Ghost of indy links past

Last fall I built a dragon Sherman for my new father in law who was a WWII tanker. He was very impressed and I was a “the” good son in law. Well Mom decided to show it to some of her friends and broke the track off from the sprocket to the first road wheel. Then when she tried to fix it and it got worse. Need I say more? So I’m repairing it now. [:(] The moral of the story, don’t celebrate completing an indy track project too much. It may come back to haunt you![:I]

that sucks, good luck repairing it

Time to put it in a trophy case … to keep mom’s hands away from it. [:P]

When I was younger, and modelling wasent much of a seriouse thing, to my parents at least (now they learned to appriciate) my mom decided it would be a good idea to dust off some of my models.
Needless to say she was’nt aware of all “the little things”, so lookin after small parts was a common practice for me. one day she even managed to break in half an entire model! but she’s my mom and I love her[^] so… I guess I cant be mad.

Moral of story, don’t let mother touch the model. My wife even knows better. [:D]

Oh No all them bits from Dragon Indy tracks

I used tam extra thin cement on my indy tracks for a tiger 1 and when I was trashin and scrapin it for parts I tried to pull the indy treads apart and the hard plastic treads themselves were cracking and ripping and each indy tread wouldn’t crack![:O][:O][:O] Throughout the whole time when I was scraping it no treads would ever break apart at the linking of two treads, it just got all mangled! Man that stuff is rock hard! What glue did you use to put the treads together?

I used Testors liguid cement, I’m using Zap a Gap to make the repair. It’s coming along, but those end connectors are a real pain with the track already installed. Specially on the inside. Oh well, no good deed goes unpunished. I had it securely attached to a plaque, but I guess the mom in law thought it would roll anyway. Such is life.

Sorry to hear about this Steve. Good luck on the repair.

Repair is now complete the only thing left is to reattach the tank to the base. Thanks for your support through this ordeal. Now if we can just keep the mother in law from playing with it!

Women ( especially mothers ) seem to be ham fisted , contrary to what they say about us men ! The second they have anything delicate in thier hands , it gets crushed or dropped , and god help you if there are delicate PE parts attached that may break off by a hard breath ! Before you can say don’t touch that … its already broken off and in the carpet somewhere ! Moral of the story , lock em ’ up put them in a safe ,… but whatever you do , don’t let mom or the wife or girlfriend touch ![:D] Frostygirl is the exception here … she knows better ![:D]
