Welcome to the Forums!

Getting back into it too. In my opinion, this is the best time to be a modeller. There is so much available it can make your head spin. Are you into aircraft?, armor?, ships? Please post pics of your projects, and there is a thread entitled “Show us your well organized workbench”, where you can display your work area.

Welcome to the forums. Everyone is very nice and supportive, and there are some fantastic skills on display.

Cheers,

Welcome to the Forums! Glad to have you aboard.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. That’s what we’re here for. To get help and give help.

Sit back and enjoy the hobby.

Welcome. Fifty years ago would be c.1967 when was at height of my 1960s building as it were. I specialized in Regia Aeronautica Italia aircraft, here’s my webpage on the forum:

Welcome aboard. Lots of things sure have changed. I have been building almost none stop since 1979 and i have noticed lots of things change over the years, so must be a bit of a shock to the system to come back. Dive in and enjoy.

Welcome Aboard ! ! T.B.

Welcome to FSM Forums!

Your friend, Toshi

Welcome aboard. Make sure that your first build is a simple model so you don’t get frustrated.

Welcome aboard, Old Rookie! Sure, some things have changed. But you can also find some of the same kits Monogram, Revell, Aurora, Airfix, and others, had out in 1967.

When I got back into modeling, there were two changes that surprised me the most. Those were the rise and spread of aftermarket detail sets, and the disappearance of figures from kits. I was used to guys scratchbuilding details, if they wanted to add detail to a build. And I was used, from growing up (b 1964) on Monogram and Revell aircraft and armor, to having at least one figure in a kit. Fewer modelers seemed to want to try painting a figure, too, so figures were one more item that aftermarket suppliers provided.

Otherwise, what you knew before is probably still valid today. We are in a golden age of variety now, though. And with the Internet, you can talk to modelers around the world, not just the guys at a local shop or club, and you don’t have to wait for snail mail replies.

I look forward to seeing your builds!

Best regards,

Brad
