Getting Back to Some Old Builds

Awhile ago, someone asked if I’d built a Universal Carrier in 1/72 or 1/76 scale. I replied in the affirmative and showed a pic with a No. 11 blade next to it to show size reference. But, back when it was built about 20 years ago, the little beastie never got painted! Well, I buckled down and started painting it and this is the result so far:

I’m going to add some brown spplotches to it, and then see if I still have any of the decals around for this little guy.

Meanwhile, I was looking at my Dragon M-2 Bradley OIF, and feeling quite reluctant to build it since (so far) all my American Armor is in green, OD, or green/brown/black camo pattern. A desert painted vehicle would stand out like a thumb after it’s meeting with a framing hammer. I am reluctant to build it unless I can find some decals for this kit for a vehicle in Germany or CONUS, or maybe I’ll wait to build it after I get several other ODS or OIF kits like a Humvee and an Abrams. Then I thought, I’ll use the Bushmaster cannon barrel from the Dragon kit for my Revell/Germany kit that lost the barrel when half of it flew off and disappeared as I tried to remove it from the sprue. I figure when I’m ready to build the Dragon kit, I’ll get a replacement barrel.

This is where I stand with this one now, after nearly a year of not working on it:

Later, I’ll add the rest of the tri-color camo pattern and then finish it up.

Comments are welcome

Hey pretty nice work duke! Now Rob, how could you make such a - just kidding. Seriously, though I’m sure you’re comments are not unappreciated. Everyone wants to have a model that’s accurate too.[;)]

Rob, your comments are VERY appreciated! Thank you for telling me this. I was wondering what that U-shape piece was and was considering removing it anyway since the piece is not holding on too well anyway. I can also remove the poles. Thank you again for filling me in. I’m glad I saw this before I started the camo pattern!

This is a helpful info … but 1/35 M2A2 kit still have this swim barrier on in their art draw box … is that a mistake too ?

what about the old bradleys with floatation kit in front ? do they use in gulf war too ? i guess i do saw some pure m2 bradleys …
