Getting back into modeling

As the title says, I am getting back into modeling again after 30+ years.

I used to build a lot of models in my pre-teens and early teens and had a lot of fun. However, it was rare that a model airplane made it past the 4th of July. Ships went up in flames floating down the creek. Hey, it was the late 70’s early 80’s.

I now enjoy the process of building and painting for the sake of the process and outcome. I have much to learn and a bunch has changed.

I am dabbling with weathering techniques and find it fascinating.

I am looking forward to learning more.

Welcome aboard, dive in and enjoy.

Welcome to the Forums and welcome back to the hobby. Glad to have you aboard.

You have come to the right place. The members here are very knowledgeable and ready to help you with any questions/problems that you might have. That’s what we’re here for.

I’ve been building for 71 of my 77 years. I build whatever strikes my fancy at the time and my wallet says OK.[;)] I remember sending the “Big MO” down the creek loaded with a smoke bomb and a couple of M-80s. Then there was the stick and tissue planes tossed off the hill with an M-80 in it. Those were the days.

My faorites are WWI and WWII planes followed closely by Sailing ships, but anything and everything else gets built too. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. We’ve all been there at one time or another.

Good luck and enjoy.

I have done the same thing. Seems a lot of folks like us are getting back into this hobby in our middle age. I am enjoying the heck out of learning new things and relearning the old. Been back at it since April of this year. Very glad to have all the different forums and youtube available they are priceless when it comes to learning new techniques.

Welcome .

We always are glad for new ideas ! T.B.
