German WWII Interior Colours

Help me out of my confusion, my instruction sheets say that the interior of the Tiger should be white.
Isn’t it more like Ivory?
Does anyone have a cross reference list colour - make?
Is Xtracrylix XA1818 German Tank Interior Cream a solution?

Thank You

Svenne

I’ve read that the german interior color was called ‘elfenbein’. It is an off-white or ivory color. Can’t give you any color codes, but straight white would be incorrect.

woudn’t adding a little iterior green to flat white give a close colour?

Well, you have to be careful here. Yes, eifelbein was one of the interior colors. Engine compartment would be hull red, and, the interior below the sponson line would be panzer gray (or thier equivalents). Also, turret drive components were dark gray or black.

Notice the radio operator station here, eifelbein above, Pz gray below.

Notice the turret components in black:

here is a scratch built Tiger interior I did last year to give you an idea:

Hope this helps,

Steve

Svenne,

German interior colors varied depending on type of vehicle. Closed veicles, like tanks and assault guns used a standard light tan or buff color. All hatches or doors were usually painted the exterior color so it would match the color scheme when left open(smart idea, open hatch painted in a buff color stands out over a darker outside color). Open vehicles like halftracks, SP artillery were painted in the same exterior color after 1943. Its common to find DAK vehicles in 1941, with dark grey interior, and dark yellow exterior. Hope this helps.

great tiger I, I’ll be starting my Academy early w/ interior in a few months, and was going to go all “white” except the engine area, now I know that gray should be included. Thanks! BTW, excellent job on the MG34.

Thx all!
Very good reference pics and a really nice scratch Steve!
And also to the zimm tip!
Looks as if the colours are gloss ore at least semi?

Again, Thank You for sharing
