German King Tiger Diorama

Hello everybody, I am constructing a winter scene with a King Tiger stoped at a split road. The commander is outside of the vehicle with a map. I only have completed the King Tiger and painted a winter scheme on it, and the character.

I am new to dioramas and have quite a colection of tanks but no dioramas. I need som help figuring out how to get started with the process, especialy making the road out of gravel and dirt but still have it stick to the board. I need some help in weathering the tank, and have no clue of how to make fake snow to cover the tank and the ground. If any of you could give me some pointers for this diorama that would be great.

The rest of the scene is okay because trees can be bought. Please help.

Well, let me be the first to welcome you to the Dark Side. [#welcome]

While I’m sure lots of folks will leave you a whole bunch of tips on how to build your diorama, I’m going to give you just one to start. Get yourself a book or two on how to build dioramas. Kalmbach Publishing, the host of this site, publishes one of the classics; Shepard Paines’ How to Build Dioramas. There are many other very good books as well. [:)] There is so much information on this topic, one can not hope but to scratch the surface describing it here.

Once again, welcome!

[:D]wellcome to the forum, you will find alot of help here if you are willing to listen, have a great day[:D]

good luck and make sure to post some pics.

Hi, I am also thinking about building that model with that paint scheme. If I can I would like to place an order for everything including paints. If you don’t mind could you tell me what colors you used for the winter paint sheme for the king tiger. thank you in advance.

The paint scheme is very simple for that tank.

Firstly it is a King Tiger Porsche turrete 1/35 scale made by Tamiya. It is a very good and detailed diorama. I simply went to the store and bought some tamiya acrylic white paint, and took a very large stiff brush and dabbed the paint all over the tank. the base color of the tank is that mustard dark Yellow, so it is good to leave some spots of that showing. I still need to add some black paint for exhaust and make the tank look dirty but im sure you know how to do that better than me. I am not at home right now but i will try to post some pictures later today

Welcome to the dark side. You will get plenty of help from the folks in this forum.
