German Hanomag SdKfz 251/1 reviewed w/pics

Fellow tank buildiers,

I thought I’d share with you some photos and a review of Tamiya’s 1/35 Hanomag SdKfz
251/1.

I’m not sure how you all feel, but the build like other tamiya armor was as sweet as it comes.
Great fit, nice detail, sufficient decals, good instructions and paint recommendations.

The kit comes with 5 figures to model in various posses. The rear doors can be modeled
open or closed. You can also position the front wheels as well.

I painted her in tamiya’s german grey and dusted the tracks with model
master leather for the muddy look. The decals allow you to model just about any version
with any combination of numbers available.

Except for the figure painting, this one’s a real breeze and a steal for under $15. Tamiya
also makes another hanomag with some different details and paint.

I’ve included a link to purchase one at www.squadron.com

Hope you enjoy and let me know what you think.

Looks good. I need a halftrack in grey too

Nice clean looking build. Your figures turned out way better than mine. I suggest some drybrushing around the bolts and high areas to bring out a little more detail. All in all a nice looking build

Looks good
Once Im finished with my Ausf. D might get one of those.
thx for the reveiw

tankbuster2005,

Lookin good!! I just returned to the hobby after 20 years. I am more than halfway through it already. It is very easy to build and looks sharp. Your model looks great!! Keep up the good work!

Nice job thx for the pics.

Thanks for the compliment guys…
I do tend to under weather some of my models…It’s something I need to practice.
For me sometimes less is better…
Post your pics when you get them…

Try drybrushing with a lighter grey and watch the details jump out. This is a perfect scheme to practice drybrushing on.

Also,a very clean job on the crew.

Thanks for the compliment…there are 3 other soldiers running around somewhere outside of the vehicle that I left out of the picture…I’ll probably include them in a post under figures…Still inproving my figure painting…just learned how to paint their faces better during the past year…

I appreciate the encouragement.

No need to apologize. You’ll never see mud on my builds…yet. I tip-toed into weathering myself. To each our own. [:)]

Yeah, we need some pics Firefox.

i’ll be glad to post some pics as soon as i can get this psychopathic microwave fixed. my usb ports are fubar so i gotta give the comp proffessor a call and see what he can do.

[:D]your kit looks great ,but too clean, you need to put some mud on it,very nice build.[:D]

Very nice! I just picked up the same kit today. As soon as I’m done with my early Tiger I build I’m going to start on the Hanomag. [:D]

Looks great!

You’ve done a real nice clean build, and the figures are well done also. This is a good representation of an old kit. As noted, A little highlighting with a shade or two lighter grey will really set off your neat work. Semper Fi, mike
