Can the Pak 40 be used in as indirect fire? What other German Guns other than the 88 were used as Indirect fire weapons? does anyone make a good build of this?
Any direct fire (ie anti-tank) can be used as an indirect fire weapon - It’s just a question of elevation. The 88’s field of fire went from an few degrees below horizontal to vertical and rotated 360 degrees, so it was no problem to use it in the direct fire, indirect fire and AA role. Since the PAK 40 only elevates a few degrees above and below horizontal, you’re going to have to dig some deep holes to drop the trails into.
There’s also the factor of a sighting system. You can point any direct fire weapon into the sky and fire, but what can you hit?
AFV Club make a couple of versions of the leFH 18 and leFH 18/40 105mm howitzers. One is a combo with a 251/4 C halftrack.
If you’re looking for field-guns, these would be your best bet. The big three, each have their own 88mm.
There are also the 7.5cm Infantry Gun 18 and the 15cm sIG 33. Italeri has reissued the old ESCI kit of the 7.5cm IG 18 and Alan makes a sIG 33.
There is a 15cm sFH 18 made by Verlinden too.
Actually many kits exist of German artillery in 1/35:
leIG 7.5cm by ESCI, Itlaeri, Warriors and Verlinden
sIG 33 15cm by Alan, Verlinden
10.5cm leFH18 by AFV Club, Aires, Gunze Sangyo
10.5cm leGebirgshaubitze by S-Models
8.8cm Flak 18, 36, 37 from Tamiya, AFV Club and DML
8.8cm Flak 41 by Cromwell
10.5cm Kanone 18 by Precision
15cm sFH18 by Precision, Verlinden and Gunze
and there are others in resin, too.
