G'day from Aus

Hello there,

Just thought I’d introduce myself.

I live in Townsville which is in north Queensland, a state of Australia.

I have been modelling seriously for about 12 months, I find the hobby very relaxing and enjoy the social nature of the modelling community. I am at the stage of modelling anything, but seem to be gravitating to early jets (not sure why yet !). My primary interest is getting the model to the stage of ‘looking’ cool but not necessairly correct. I guess one day I will take the next step and become consumed with the research stuff!

I have just brought my first airbrush and am looking forward to developing the necessary skills, although I am a little nervous about filling it with paint and spraying for the first time. I think that a bit of practice on plastic film may be the go in the begining! Any words of wisdom here would be appreciated.

I am treasurer of our small regional modelling club, Townsville Scale Modelling Club (TSMC), so anyone coming this way please look us up on the web.

Cheers

Simon

Welcome to FSM Simon. Words of wisdom … hhhmmmmm … looking cool is fantastic, work to the level that you want to, make yourself happy and don’t turn the hobby into a chore. As far as airbrushing goes, practice and play, you’re gonna luv it.

Nice of you to join in, Simon. Looking forward to hearing more from down under…!

Hi ya Simon …

Welcome to the FSM community modeling forum(s). You have joined the right group to learn more about your new hobby. Again welcome and have fun! [^]

Hi Simon - it’s nice to meet someone living in Townsville, Australia. Even I’m from Poland, I spent two weeks in your town in 1997 (living in Rangewood!). That’s fine to hear, that you have your Modelling Club (unfortunately, I’m the “lonely wolf” in modeling). Give my regards to all places I remember - mostly to Shelly Beach and Magnetic Island. I spent a good time in model shop placed on (I hope I remember it correct) Turingawa Street, in Toy shop. And I remember also restoration of P-51D Mustang (or CAC Mustang) in Aircraft Museum near Townsville Airport (I have even a photo when sitting in it !) Reagrds ! Aleksander

G’day Simon,
Welcome to the forum. There’s lots of heads full of all sorts of stuff here, so don’t be shy to ask a question or two. The folks who ride here are pretty good blokes.
I’m in Melbourne (and no - it’s not raining) so if you ever have a question you can email me at any time.
Cheers, Lee Tree
