GB build idea.................for the distant future

I just had a great GB build idea I thought I would toss out there. This isn’t really a feeler, but more of a “hey, has anyone done this build?”

Why not do a group build the idea of the aircraft being heavily damaged or even belly landed and the theme would be 'And they walked away".

Recreate documented shot up planes with flak and bullet damage or planes that managed a rough landing but the crew and pilot walked away. Even go for fictitious builds. Certainly would make for some interesting pieces.

I’ve seen quite a few builds like that over the years. Seen a few at shows too. Great builds. Best one was from the book “A Higher Call”. Shot up B-17 with a Bf-109 helping him reach the channel to get home.

Great idea!

I always enjoy working in some battle damage, sounds like that may be fun. It would have to last a while I should think, due to the build time of such a display.

I might be intrested in doing this A-6 if it fits inside the rules.

Holy cow, that’s amazing!! That would fit, why not.

If you’re looking for GB ideals…one I been thinking about but would never have the time to run one myself, would be…‘Favorite Aircraft you have flown in’. Of course this can be a build that can cross both military and commercial kits. If I didn’t have so much on my plate now I would throw it out but maybe someone can pick up on it, I don’t believe I ever seen such a GB here.

Archangel,

It won’t necessarily be an airliner. I’ve flown in a Bell 47 Sioux, Sea Stallion, DeHavland Beaver, and next spring my wife has treated me to a ride in a B-17

I’m currently doing B-17 Chowhound after it crashed in a French farmers field. If anyone has any pictures of it after it was shotdown, I need to see them. I can’t find any on the internet. So, if I don’t find the pics, i’ll make it how i think it may have looked.

Hey Brandon… I thought I had already posted to this thread a while back, but I may have been hallucinating  I’d love to do this, and I’ve already got one in mind. Supposedly, Greg Boyington led six P-40s into a mass crash landing due to low fuel while he was in the AVG. They ended up landing on a Chinese cemetery on top of a mountain. If I recall either three or four went gear up, the remainder went gear down. The ones that went in gear up were able to be put back together and flown out, the others were FUBAR. In order to get Chennault off his back, Boyington agreed to fly the damaged birds back.

So, what I’ll do is one of the P-40s being repaired on site, with Boyington getting chewed out by a crew chief.

Let us know the where and whens, cuz I’m in on this one!!! Raymond

Cool !
