Gathering of Mustangs & Legends 2007

I’ve never done it myself Mucker but I think you have to select the specific folder and then post the html address for that specific folder. Since we’re on the topic of P-51’s lets try this Link

Hmm… can’t get it to work and I can’t get into yours either Mucker.

There is a share album tab at the top of the page Mucker. I clicked on it and it wants to take me to my space. I didn’t want to go there but you might want to check that out.

Your album is shown to be private. You will have to go into account options and make it public for us to see it without your password, and then post the album address.

Thanks Dave and Wayne. I just went in and made my account “public”.

They’re up now. Look pretty good.

Thanks Mucker, awesome Pics! [tup][tup]

[(-D] Power****…Is it that bad of a camera?

I was chuckling at the brand of camera as well…pictures actually look good to me…LOL

Great pictures! I love the old warbirds. In Shakopee, MN, my house is right under the flight path for mos tof the aircraft coming into FLying CLoud. About a month or so ago, I went to the Heritage airshow up there. The Friday, I was changing the oil in my wifes car and was busy screwing the filter in when all I could hear was this rumbling and it was getting louder. I rolled myself out just as the B-17 with 2 mustang escorts and I believe a Texan, all in formation came over my house at about 1500 ft. I was like a little girl at a Justin Timberlake concert…[:I][:P]

My wife just laughs at me…

Yeah. I knowthe feeling Brent, only I can’t find the word to describe the all inclusive admiration, thrill, giddiness and respect when I see and hear the airplanes fly by.

Great! I’ll drop you a line. I usually like to enter something, just 'cause. I’ve been pleasantly surprised in the past.

Semper Fi,

Chris

So any word on what you’ll be entering? Or is this “Eyes Only” until the day of the show?

For the last 3 years I’ve approached the Cincy show by seeing what others have entered and then trying to gauge if I can build something worthy of at least placing. each year I leave with the feeling that my skill set is just not quite there yet.

I’m a fairly competitive person and if I enter something, it will be to “place” so if I know going in that it’s not up to par I shy away from entering in the first place. Once again this year, I’ll just be the audience. But some of that stuff is amazing! The scratchbuilt section last year was incredible!

Got your e-mail, too. YEs, let’s definately put a face to the name atthe show.

Got my film back from the show. Hope your not tired of airplane pictures. I tried to get some modeling shots of the Mustang, B52, and the A10. The new shots are after the pictures from my previous post.

Hi everyone. I haven’t been on these boards in a while, and I saw that someone posted GML shots. Here’s mine, on flickr:

Beautiful weather was in store the two days I was there (Friday and Saturday). My pics are all in flight or distant shots, brought in by a long zoom lens…shooting stuff on the ground was not going to happen w/ an 80 - 300mm lens (multiplied by 1.5 via my Nikon D80).

Hope you enjoy.

Mitch

This reminded me of 6 or 8 years ago. I live in Kenosha, WI and one year just before the EAA fly-in began, a ton of WWII warbirds gathered at the local airport. They had a mini-show just before EAA and then flew up to Oshkosh in one huge formation. There must have been upwards of 100 planes or more. At the time, I lived on lake Michigan due east of the airport. When those planes flew over to make the trip to Oshkosh along the shoreline, it was deafning! The sight of that many planes in the the air that close together was amazing. I still get chills thinking about it. I hope I get the chance to see something like that again. One of these years, I’ll make it up to Oshkosh to see them a little closer![:D]

oh, almost forgot…everytime I tell someone about it…my wife laughs too…she says I’m like a little kid…[8-]

I have yet to grace the hallowed grounds of Oshlosh yet. I know this is the sin of all sins and I havn’t lived until I see it…next year for sure. This year I missed it because we just moved down in August. Heck, I might even rent a plane and fly in to Oshkosh…I hear that is an experience in itself.

Cheers

Brent

Wayne and Mitch: GREAT pics! I’ve got a nice point and shoot, but nowhere near he quality of your pics. Thank you.

Thanks Charles. After I hit the lottery, I’m going to get a setup like Mitch’s.

Hey guys. As some of you may know from seeing my sig before, I’m an avid simulator pilot in addition to a modeler. The group I fly online with is associated with the real 352nd Fighter Group which is really a unique relationship. My fellow online squadmates fly online together at least twice a week, usually flying a mission or two in our bluenosed painted mustangs. We have a lot of fun and enjoy flying with each other.

The real 352nd Fighter Group Association chose to have their reunion at the 2007 Gathering of Mustangs. We, as the Virtual 352nd Fighter Group, were invited to attend. Unfortunately, I couldn’t justify spending the money on the trip. I’ll probably kick myself in years to come because of this. Several of my online squadmates made the trip, however. Can you imagine attending a WWII fighter group reunion and hearing all the stories first hand? The guys that went even met a couple of Tuskeegee Airmen that were staying in the same hotel and joined in their conversations.

The 352nd Fighter Group Association recently released a new book called Bluenoser Tales which is a complilation of many stories from and about many of the 352nd Fighter Group pilots. It’s a very nice book and I recommend it to anyone interested in tales about fighter pilots. I purchased one and one my squadmates going to the reunion was kind enough to carry my book along with his and get some signatures.

I figured you guys would appreciate such a treasure so I figured I would share some pictures of some of the signatures. There are many more pilot sigs and also include support personnel such as armorers and such, but I figured I was pushing it with this many pics. I wish I could have gone to the reunion and the Gathering of Mustangs, but this was the next best thing. Enjoy.
