Everything I built when I was little has been sitting in two big boxes in my Mom’s basement since I left home, but she’s moving so they gotta go. Strange to give up all these things that while being rather homely I spent alot of time on, oh well, they’ll probably take flight at the hands of one happy kid, just kinda hoping some of the ones that don’t stink to bad find a good home…
There’s the diorama I built in grade 9, the first one I built, a 1:24 huey, and an F-4 that wasn’t bad for the time I guess. (they look better through the camera than in real life)
Hey toomanyslurpies how are you.
I still have some of my earlier work lurking about. Many have gone to that great graveyard in the sky with any usefull parts being plucked and stuck in my spares boxes. Much like in real life. I still have about 15 various armor and airplane kits that I keep under my bed in a box. I could never let them go way to many memories. Most of them are pretty rough. I started building when I was seven so you can imagine the quality of the builds. I have an old 1/48 Monogram Ju 87 that I did some serious weathering to. I can see my skills slowly progress and the fund avalibilty also improved the finished product when I could finally afford an airbrush. It is like a trip down memory lane. Now money is no object so I tend to go nuts. Photo Etch aftermarket decals. three different airbrushes. Things I could only have dreamed about 35 years ago. Are you sure you do not have the room to store them in a box somewhere. It would be a shame to lose all of those memories. I sometimes pull them out and try to remember the actual build in my mind and what I was trying to pull off. Wow now I feel old. Oh well at least I have a big enough stash to keep me happy for the rest of my life. The upside to having worked hard for the last twenty five years.

toomanyslurpees…Sorry to see them go…You have a great collection thats just begging for some TLC.
I have gone back and rebuilt many of my first builds. Gently take them apart as far as possible, strip the paint and give them a new lease on life. They may not be perfect, but its nice seeing old friends looking good after some plastic surgery [8)]
Not to mention the tons of spare parts in that bunch…
Thanks for sharing!
I’ve kept a couple in the as is form, and have partically disassembled a 1:48 C-47 and B-24J which my Dad had built, lucky for that as he tended to make alot less of a mess of them, for rebuilding at some point. I’ve also stolen all the spares I think I could used for future projects like props for a 1:48 vacuform Stirling that I’m convinced someday I’m going to start.
I see so many potentially good parts there. You might want to consider saving the best ones for the future and strip every useful item from the others. Keep them around by taking them with you.
