I’ve seen many references to gap filling super glue. Is there a brand name for it, and how effective is it [?] Thanks.
Any medium- or thick-viscosity super glue will work for this. Also, most of the brands will say “gap-filling formula” on the containers. I personally use Flash brand, but that’s only because it’s the cheapest I can find. Also, buy some accelerator for the glue. After you fill your gaps with the super glue, apply the accelerator to make the glue set (or dry, if you prefer) instantly. If you try to wait for the glue to set on its own, you’ll literally wait for days. Super glue (cyanoacrylate) is an anaerobic chemical compound, meaning that it requires no air to cure. With it exposed to air, it takes a LOOOONG time to cure. That’s why it almost instantly sets when you press two parts together with super glue on them - you’re displacing the air from the between the two parts, allowing the glue to cure. I know, I know - why doesn’t it cure in the bottle? The bottles have the ability to allow the contents to “breathe”, (I believe that they’re made of semi-permeable plastic, but I’m not sure about that) so that it doesn’t dry out on you. Good Luck!!
Great info. Thanks. I am sure this will save a lot of trouble and will cause less collateral damage for small gaps than using putty.
Just remember that it is harder to sand than putty and gets even harder as time goes by, so you have to sand it as soon as it sets.

I use Zap-A-Gap CA+, which I’ve been very pleased with.
For large gaps or sink holes, I like to use Krazy Glue’s gel formula. It comes in a metal tube and is thick like toothpaste.
The really great thing about it is that its setting time is long enought that you can manipulate it into position with a tooth pick or pin however you want it before you touch the accelerator to it.
Its also great for building up structures quickly if you don’t like going in layers of thinner superglues. It sets just as fast with accelerator as other types of CA glues do.
here is a gap filling trick i leaned from a friend, i haven’t tried it yet but i will soon (my hind doesn’t fit too well).
White out. (liquid paper)
just apply and paint over, it’s cheap too.
