Gap Filling CA keeps Clogging

hi guys, my Gap filling CA glue gets clogged up after a few times use. i have been using a bobby pin, but it doesnt work to well. Anyone have some ideas of how to keep my Glue from not clogging at the tip?

Thanks[:)]

John,

I use Zap-A-Gap myself and this is what I do.
I put a few drops that I will be using in a bottlecap or something similar and then wipe the tip of the bottle off with a paper towel. The tip doesn’t clog near as much if you keep it wiped clean each time.

I also use Zap and it comes with some long cone-shaped tips. I just make sure all the glue has been drawn back into the bottle and then stick a straight pin in the tip. Sometimes have to yank it out with pliers, but the tip seldom clogs up.

I treat my CA tubes or bottles the same a MikeV, but additionaly, just before I put the cap back on, I gently tap the bottom on the work bench which usually drains any CA remaining in the tip back into the container. (That’s usually what causes the tip to get clogged up)

Thanks for adding that Quincy.
Sometimes I just squeeze the bottle slowly and then release it which causes the air to suck the glue back down out of the tip and into the bottle.

Mike

ok thanks.

A tight seal helps too as moisture in the air is the catalysis that causes the glue to cure. I sometimes wipe the noozle tip off with acetone if I notice glue build up on it.

Hi John,

If nothing else works and you still get clogging with the CA, try putting it inside the fridge for storage after every use. The cold will supposedly retard hardening of the glue inside the tube/bottle. It has worked with my bottle of Loctite which I’ve stored for months now (it previously worked with Krazy Glue) and I’ve never experienced clogging. Good luck!

Wipe the excess with acetone and cotton swab…
