FYI-parts from TAMIYA

Hi all, wanted to pass on, i believe, helpful information to fellow modelers. I recently emailed Tamiya and asked them if there was a way to order replacement parts for their models. The next day i received a reply with a number from Tamiya customer service department (850-826-4922) to call if i needed parts. Well, i am currently building and old 1/48 scale A6M2 (ZEKE) and the canopy cracked. this morning i thought i would give it a shot expecting the same as most everyone else- recording and give a call back number. To my SURPRISE, i got a human voice!!! Not only did they have the darn canopy in stock for a very reasonable price ($1.70 each) plus $5.00 shipping , but promised to have it shipped no later than tomorrow. I hope this helps some of you out there. doc bailey

This is definitely good news doc… I too have had the same experience with Tamiya…!!

[dto:] Same here. They really are on top of the game with customer support, can’t recommend the Two-Star brand enough.

I had a very similar experience about two years ago with them - in this case, I ruined a P-47 canopy. And the price was just about the same - under two dollars. So I got two, in order to get better use out of the $5 shipping cost.

Way to go Tamiya!

I agree as well. Tamiya has just about the best customer service and replacement part ease and availablity in the business. I’ve also had pretty good luck with Academy/MRC and Italeri…their replacement part service is basically free of charge. All you have to have is the proof of purchase off the box top and/or a sales receipt. The only problem with them is that both Academy and Italeri are based overseas, so it can take a while to get the parts. Other than that, they’re great!
