FW190 A-6 Trop

Hi, I have picked up a bargin Fujimi FW190 kit and fancy doing it in the Tropic scheme, so I need a little advice on the nearest Tamiya colours please.

It says the upper side is Ochre, now I can see what this is supposed to look like but assume I will have to mix up a custom one from my tamiya stock, so anyone know the best ones?

Also it reckons the under side is Azure blue, is this correct and again whats the nearest in tamiya colours?

Thanks

I just completed a Ho-229 is a “what if” desert/tropical scheme…

I used MM acryl for the base…Sandgelb RLM 79, the mottle using Tamiya xf-58 dark green and undersides MM acryl RLM 78 hellblau…now Tamiyas desert yellow is pretty close to the RLM 79…a bit darker but passable…the dark yellow is a bit light…their XF 23 is close to the RLM 78…a bit lighter…now if you finish up with dull cote overall then the colors tend to blend better and tone down a bit…that for me scales the color down…if that makes sense…in the end…what looks good to you is what counts…

I can help with this. Unfortunatly I cannot provide Tamiya paint information

Recently I had the opportunity to study a complete annotated set of paint chips for all three military arms for the German Military during world war 2

Using Vallejo Model Colour paints I have made 100% paint match through the entire collection of paint chips. Here are the colours you need, shade matched 100 % to the Vallejo Model Color Range

RLM 78

BRIGHT BLUE

Lower surfaces of Mediterranean scheme.

70961

RLM 79

SAND YELLOW

Mediterranean scheme upper base coat

70843

RLM 79a

SAND BROWN

Mediterranean scheme upper base coat alternate colour

70874

RLM 80

OLIVE GREEN

You may be able to use various sites to match to Tamiya colours.

Hope this helps you

James

Yep, you want RLM 78/79, with RLM 80 mottling if you’re doing the mottling thing.

I used Gunze’s Mr. Color line for my Trop 109 and was very happy with both the paint’s handling characteristics and color.

Tamiya-specific, the best you’re going to do without nuanced color mixing:

RLM 78 = XF23 Light Blue

RLM 79 = XF59 Desert Yellow

RLM 80 = XF58 Olive Green

Hey Doogs. Love that 109!

Thanks all, I have those colours in my set so gonna see what I can do, pics to follow soon
