Fw 190 Butcher Bird 2013 (extended to June 2014) Group Build

Sounds like a great bloke [:D]

No, no mottling on the Stuka, just a nice simple splinter scheme [whstl]

Good LORD!!! That looks awesome Greg! Man that was worth waiting for bubba and your mottle pattern turned out great. What a build!!! Which pic would you like to use in the completed builds section?

I would like to thank you sir for being a part of this GB buddy. I knew you could turn out a good one and look what happened. Just that.

Now git to work on that Stuka!!! lol

…and I’ve never done a splinter scheme either. I’ll have all sorts of dumb questions…

Greg… Beautifully done my friend! Outstanding finish… Now, STUKA…STUKA…STUKA…

LOL… all jokes aside… EXCELLENT Wurger!

Doug

Joe, thank you! Pic #2, the side view, I suppose. Thanks for all your support and encouragement. And yet again, thanks for leaving this thing open past the deadline, bro.

Doug! There you are! I was worried about you earlier because I was reading a post of yours somewhere and it looked like your badge animated gif had disappeared. Was worried you’d flown the coop or something. Thanks man!

Everyone: You sure know how to make it fun and rewarding to finish a scale model. Thanks.

And I’m looking at my Stuka cockpit options (stock parts vs Eduard PE and cringing at the Aries seats (yikes!!!) as we speak. Already cut some parts off the sprues.

Greg – let me add my congratulations on a superb model, it really looks convincing and the mottle came out so well I’m just hoping mine looks something like it!

I think I’ll be last across the line, the airbrush is being packaged for courier collection today – hopefully they might have it back by the end of the week, in which case I’ll tackle the paintjob on the big A-8 next weekend.

In the meantime, I have scratchbuilt superdetailing on a panzer to complete, a Mustang to get underway, and of course a Stuka to work on – cockpit painting is well along, it would be nice to get some harness installed and the instruments finished.

Hey Greg… No, I had a total computer meltdown Thursday, and had to replace the tower, and while I was at it I just called and had the service provider switch over from DSL to digital wireless, so… Im up and at it again , keeping my fingers crossed…

Sure have had my share this year… Well, still on the right side of the grass so… NO COMPLAINTS! LOL…

Doug

Oh yeah , another thing…you mugs need to get busy acquiring a 109 kit! [;)]

Maybe an Eduard Royal Class? It comes with a beer glass. AND FRIGGIN COASTERS!!! [;)]

Mike, thank you for your kind words! As a new guy, it’s really cool to get compliments from folks with lots of experience…like you!

You know you’ll have no trouble with the mottling, and I’m excited for you getting your a/b back good as new. Speaking of the Stuka GB, I just started mine today and already I’m a bit stumped.

Doug, sorry to hear about the computer woes. But, worse things could happen like you alluded to. I hope you like your new connection better than DSL. Know that 4 days gone and I definitely noticed! Welcome back.

Now let’s see, …I could swear I have one of those around here somewhere…

[;)]

Oh Greg you should know by now that one isn’t enough! Better get another one if it isn’t a 1/32 kit [;)]

[:D]

One at a time for me. At least up until now. I think in my near future I’m going to have two going on. Might have to take multitasking lessons from you, Clemens.

Don’t always stop by the “Butcher” tent but glad I did to see Greg’s completed bird. Your finish is excellent, the open detail convincing and the canopy looks great (bad glass can be a deal breaker). I’d say your skills have progressed substantially [t$t]

Reasoned, thanks mate!!! I appreciate that! (and happy you stopped back in and took the time to comment)

All improvement is 100% due to stuff I have learned from you guys. Still a long way to go, and every time I look at the completed build section I am reminded of that for sure.

Greg. That is stellar job gratz on the completion on your first edward.

How would you rate the edward build ? I also like the paint on this one.

I’m sure you told us before but did you free hand or mask. ?

Great looking bird.

Bish. Thanks for the info on the first British bomber shoot down now that I have a battle name I’ll look into it a bit more. Maybe come up with a nice 109 to build.

Plus that kind of story is interesting to me.

I forgot to mention that I was at my lhs yesterday and they had the old monogram panzer l 4 1/32 scale in the original packaging and its new. Wow what step back in time.

Thanks BD!

I don’t think I have enough experience to be rating much of anything, mate! The Eduard kit was challenging to me, haven’t quite figured out how I managed not to completely botch it up! I guess I can say that it required more thinking ahead and test fitting than I actually did. Maybe next time. [;)] It was my first time working with an engine mount like this one, that was probably the worst part for this born again rookie.

The paint was all freehand, except I ended up with a bit of overspray on the wings on closer inspection so I went back and used poster tac for a touch up mask.
