Future issues

This Newbie has some questions. Been reading that Micro Sol attacks Future. I was planning on using the Micro Scale Decal Setting Solution system for applying decals. Now I’m hesitant. I’ve also read that there are problems with applying washes on Future because the washes have a hard time staying on and even bead off. So my questions are:

  1. If I plan on using Future for decal application, do I dispense with the Micro Scale system because Micro Sol attacks Future?

  2. After I apply decals over a cured Future surface, can I apply a dull or matte clear coat to seal the decals, then apply my washes and weathering and then re-apply a dull or matte clear coat to seal everything up? Thanks guys.

Decal setting solutions can sometimes turn the Future a little cloudy. This usually is the result of not letting to Future cure enough before decaling. It will usually go away when the decals have dried completely.

Get the decal down and all the air bubbles pressed out. Apply the setting solution but don’t leave the decal sitting in huge puddle. Touch the edge with a Q-tip or tissue to wick away the excess being careful not to disturb the decal which is already starting to get soft.

Yes you want to seal the decal but not with a dull coat. Apply another coat of Future. This seals the decals and fills in the edges a bit to help resist weathering building up and outlining the decal film. It is also a nice hard surface for weathering. Then finish up with the flat finish
