I have been looking for a substute for Future in Australia. Can anyone tell me what to use?
I understand that Shine magic isn’t made anymore.
In Australia, the most readily available substitutes for Future are Pledge" One Go" and Pascoe’s “Long Life”. Both of these products are available “off the shelf” at your local Coles/Woolworths/Safeway supermarkets. They are similar, but not quite the same as the original Future.
Both contain cleaning agents, and Pascoes will dissolve Tamiya acrylics. It failed the “drip” test over Tamiya acrylic, so it never went anywhere near my models. One Go works fine as a clear parts dip but when airbrushed over a model, it doesn’t seem to give the high gloss that Future is famous for.
Moving up a little, Bunnings stock a number of products which may be viable alternatives, but I’ve not tried them. Two which I have seen on the shelf ate “Floorshine” by Feast Watson and “Gemini Floor Sealer Finish” by Peerless Pro. Again, all I know of these products is that they state that they are acrylic based floor coatings - I’ve note tried them at all.
Has anyone tried Johnson’s Wood magic? I noticed it on the shelf when I was looking for Shine magic which I hear isn’t made anymore.
dont they sell Klear over there ? That appears to be the stuff in NZ.
I have read on a craft website that Pascoe’s Long Life Self Shining Polish is the Australian version of future. Does anyone know if that is true?
Pascoe’s is similar, but it’s not the same as “Future” sold overseas. It contains cleaning agents and will dissolve Tamiya acrylics, so that puts it out of the game for me.
Pledge “One Go” (usually found beside Pascoes on your local supermarket shelf) is also similar but not quite the same and also contains cleaning agents, but found it less aggressive than Pascoes (ie. didn’t dissolve Tamiya paint). OneGo works fine for clear parts dipping, but I don’t like to use it as a vlear coat on my models.
There are some possible alternative products available (read above) but I haven’t tried them.
