Stug I might take you up on that offer. Thanks heaps.
Let me know how much a bottle is + postage to Oz, also the best way to get the cash to you.

Future is being imported into Australia by some hobby shops. A trader was selling some at a swap meet here in Brisbane last Saturday. Try some of the Net retailers.
I have recently discovered that the Aussie Pledge-One -Go is no longer the same/close to the formula product as Future Floor Wax. Just look in the bottle - it is yellow but Future is clear. That is why people are having mixed results with it. Pledge can react badly with Mr Marksoftener and Micro Sol/Set making the Pledge go milky white under the areas where the Decal solution has been added. Unlike Future, Pledge does not mix well with Tamiya Flat Base, again the result is a milky white mess.
In my humble opinion, Future is over rated when it comes to use with armour models. On aircraft, with their plethora of small decals and for hiding fine marks on cockpit canopies, you can justify using Future but with most armour models you will add few decals, so a couple of light coats of Testors/Model Master Glosscote where the decals are to go is all you will really need. If you intend to add filters then gloss coat left to harden for a couple of days will give you a better result.
Yes a bottle of Future is cheaper than the equivalent volume of Glosscote, but how much have you spent on the kit and AM parts anyway? Saving a few bucks on the prep for the final finish is not all that good sense.
Same for the guys that try and find a cheaper thinner than Tamiya’s own for their acryllics. The large plastic bottle is $10 and has at least 5 times the amount of the glass jar for $6. The cost of the amount of thinner you use is but a mere fraction of the cost of what you spend on the kit in total.
Well said Petbat.
I guess for me it’s not about saving money but lowering the amount of toxic products that I use.
If I can replace my gloss and matt cotes with a single bottle of Future I would be happy. This may not even happen as I may not be happy with the results Future gives me, but it’s worth a try…and even so, it will still be useful for canopies.
I heard that pledge one go is the same thing,I have bought a bottle but havn’t used it as yet-I am a bit aprehensive in using it as is has a pinkish tinge and Future is clear.
But I’ll try it tonight on an old kit and let you know.
You brought up some good points petbat. Now I’m going to humbley disagree. I have grown to love the simplicity of Future, and like Glen said the less toxic stuff I can use the better.I shoot only acrylics and use oils/ enamels sparingly, mainly for filters and washes as well as drybrushing. It is purely a personel thing as I have health issues that limit my desire to shoot any solvent based stuff.
But I have also found Future excellent for putting washes on. If it is cured well and I don’t like the wash or had a misshap it wipes off cleanly. Same as detail painting with enamels/oils. If I don’t like the result, alittle thinner on a brush and viola…it’s gone.It is purely our own prefference. I feel Future’s rock hard covering is far superior to any gloss coat I’ve tried in the past. I remember when I first heard about it. I got a bottle fully expecting to be using most of it on my kitchen floor cause I was skeptical. I feel it protects the base coat and even helps "tighten"up delicate parts.I’m not saying it’s better than anything else , I do think however it has a following for a reason. We all should use what works for us.
well good for you guys, im in malaysia and i cant find any future or any jonhson floor wax… The names/brands appeared in asia cannot be found here.
i try to contact this floor cleaining service guys they gave me a type of alcrylic floor polish/wax , that look like future. but the results is not as good .
as it tends to entrap bubbles , when it dries up in the canopy it left finger prints marks. It is not 100% full proof for thinner cleaning too.
I have found a source here in Australia, but they are waiting for a shipment in June.
When I get hold of some I can send you a bottle if you like.
Glen
I would be very interested to know the Aussie supplier too, as I’ve felt I was missing a powerful tool in my arsenal for some years now. The idea of painting a quick-drying matt finish scheme, then glossing it with a non-toxic acrylic with a superior finish is very attractive. Also, I’ve had misgivings about clearcoats in the past as I’ve heard so many mixed reports. They’re standard techniques these days, but if the paintjob itself looks good why overcoat unless you really need to? Future seems to be the simplest and most reliable option for when a model needs an overall, uniform gloss finish (especially when volume is an issue).
Well, it’s vastly cheaper, and IMO it’s no worse, and here in the US anyway it’s far easier to buy than going to a hobby shop to get gloss coat, so for me the choice for a gloss medium is clear (pardon the expression).
But as Stug61 said, it’s more than just a gloss coat. It’s basically a thin acrylic paint – clear acrylic paint! There’s nothing I’ve ever found that carries acrylic pigment as well for purposes of making a wash. It is a nice vehicle for carrying ink as well, if you are so inclined. If I’m using an acrylic wash instead of using the time consuming and very smelly oil washes, Future is the way to go for me.
It’s also great for making clear parts look truer – more like glass/plexiglass and less like plastic. It actually does have some ability to lessen the ugly appearance of crazing on clear plastic, too.
I use it a lot for painting the small models I use in wargaming too. So all in all I think it’s a wonderful substance to have around, cheap and multifaceted, particularly if you paint a lot with acrylics.
