Future in Australia

Calling all Aussies.

Has anyone managed to find a source for Future in Australia??

I have tried using a similar product, Pledge-One Go, as mentioned in Finescale Modeler but have had mixed results.

Would really like some of the real deal. Anyone know where I can get some…

Hi Glen,

Ummm… maybe you should try doing a mail-order from the States? Several modelers, or a modeling club, get together and order a case.

The stuff last forever… I use it regularly, and been on the same bottle for almost two years.

Good luck,[:)]
Take care,
Frank

Can’t get it in Australia. Your best option is to get in contact with someone in the states and ask them to send you some. I know a couple of other guys in the battle of britain group build got some sent to them by Tho990.

Ask Tominator to provide the Web address where he sourced some of the real deal. I think this came from Canada and he is very pleased. Not too expensive either. I am still using the One go and would like to hear of your mixed results, so if you have the time…Haven’t used it much myself (gloss coating before decalling only, not on transparancies and not mixed with flatting agent) but do feel it has done ok here.

Oldhooker, mail order from the states takes forever and is a last resort.
Was hoping to find some already here! Will probably have to in the end though.

Simon, One Go seems to work fine for canopies but I have not had much success using it for gloss or flat coats, neither of which I have been happy with.
As a gloss coat it does not hide the silver part of the decals and I have not been able to mix up a flat coat that even comes near other products like Testors Dullcote or Humbrol Dullcote.

I would really like to try the stuff from the US to compare.

Glen, Pledge One Go is the stuff. What kind of “mixed results” are you having? Most folks using this do not experience a problem but if you can discribe your issue I can try and help.

Pledge contains ammonia and lot of fellow club members have had some adverse results using it over acrylics. Rekkits/Pascoes Long Life is a little better but it too contains small amounts of ammonia.

Since the retraction of Super Stride and Super Shine, Aussie modellers do not have a really good equivalent of Future anymore. I have both Super Stride and Future (purchased on a holiday in the US some 4 years ago) and they are very close to each other in proerties and performance.

I purchased a bottle of Pledge for a friend and you can really smell the ammonia in it.

cheers

Mike

You hit it on the head Mike.

I have not compared the ingredients but as I understand, Future is made for linoleum.
The Pledge bottle says for use on lino and tiles but I would say it’s main use in Australia would be on tiles and so it would have different ingredients.

Bear in mind also that Pledge is not Future with a different name as in other countries.

Anyhow Iv’e found a very kind US modeller to send me some so I’ll soon find out wether it’s my bad mixing or differences in the product.

G’day fellas, I actually got some of the real stuff in Oz from “Hawkeye Models”. The link to their website is www.hawkeyemodels.com.au This was in about late December in '04 and I’m not sure if they are still in business, but I know they imported some of the real stuff. The guy’s name was Steve Evans. Check the website and drop them an email, you may be in luck.

Cheers…Snowy

Just trying to help out; Daniel said some of the Aussie forum members was sent some by Tho990 and I thought that might be an option.

Best of luck in finding some. [:)]

Take care,
Frank

Hawkeye has ceased trading unfortunately. Not sure if Steve is still selling direct to get rid of remaining stock but it would be worth a try. He did mention a number of months back he was importing Future, that was before he announced that Hawkeye was ceasing trading and producing decals.

Have sent an email to Hawkeye. Here’s hoping.[:)]

Guys
Hawkeye Models is waiting for a shipment of Future in June.
Thanks for your help.

I think i may have seen it not long ago available in small amounts from a webstore. But i can remember if i saw it here or over on www.hyperscale.com
Sorry , i know this is really vauge but if your really out of luck maybe do a search on the net to see what you can find. I wish i could help you out more ,and i could be wrong here so i hope in some small way this helps. I’m an aussie modeller to and i’ve been using "plege one go " but only on clear parts and not for gloss coats. So far its turned out alright but the first bottle i bought always seemed to leave behind dust particles untill i purchased a fresh bottle and wala ! as we say in down under …no worries mate !So maybe buy a new bottle! I’ve never had the oportunity to use future but it does appear to finish a little clearer… from what i’ve seen anyway…However I have had the opportunity to use some Austrian stuff called “glanzer” which seems to puddle up more the Aussie Plege stuff and drys with a pinkish tint . any way i hope you have some luck getting some soon . !!!
