Future GBs for 2005 from Vintage.

NEW BUILDS

Like BlackWolf I too have been tossing around some Ideas for a few new group builds for 2005. Here are just a few that I have been working on.

THE KOREAN WAR GROUP BUILD-This would encompas all aircraft that ever participated in the Korean war, from any country, in any scale by any manufacturer.

WORKHORSE OF THE AIRFORCE GROUP BUILD-This build would encompas all of the aircraft that were used by the airforces of the world, for transporting troops, cargo, and vehicles. EX: C-47, C-130, JU-52, C-46. They can be built in any scale, from any era, by any manufacturer.

AIRCRAFT OF GERMANY GROUP BUILD-This group build would consist of the aircraft that Germany operated during world war two, in any scale from any company.

AXIS VS. ALLIES GROUP BUILD-This one will be a surprise, but you can count on it being a very neat build.

FIGHTERS OF AMERICA GROUP BUILD-This build will consist of all of the aircraft ever to have served in the united states airforce, in any scale form any era by any manufacturer.

THE ALLIED WORLD WAR TWO GROUP BUILD-This build is going to incorporate, Aircraft, Armor, ships, and figures. The build will consist of all the diferent types of equipment operated by the Allies. And in the build there will be sub sections according to the following, British, American, Australian, Russian, Chinesse and other (other will consist of the smaller countires that did participate but not in great numbers), and in those sub sections the build will consist of only equipment, used in that country. EX:P-51D American, British figure Brittian.

THE AXIS WORLD WAR TWO GROUP BUILD-This build like the Aillied going is to incorporate, Aircraft, Armor, ships, and figures. The build will consist of all the diferent types of equipment operated by the Axis. And in the build there will be sub sections according to the following, Germany, Italy, Japan and other (other will consist of the smaller countires that did participate but not in great numbers), and in those sub sections the build will consist of only equipment, used in that country. EX:Bf-109 Germany, Jananees figure Japan.

So what do you think of the ones in Red?

Cool, is the Axis & Allies Gb where we have to paint all the little tiny planes that come with the game… But seriously those are some great ideas. I was needing an exuse to build a 1/72 C-130 from Italeri

i think i have a kit that would match most of those builds allready!! we’ll see. later.

Personally, these are a little too vague for me. I like the specific ones like the Mustang Ranch or BW’s 2005 GB “P-40’s”. That way there is a good chance a couple of people will be building the same kit and can share hints and tips. Just my [2c]

<3 those two

I just need me a German bird…

Well I kinda wanted them to be vague so that a multitude of kits can be incorperated into the build so there isnt, tons of Mustanges, or duplicites of a few aircrft so it keeps the build interesting. And so that you can see how so many different kits come together.

That makes sense.

Not for a while, maybe 2006, I was planning on building nothing but USAAF and USN foreign made WWII planes. Like the Noorduyn Norseman, Beaufighter, Mosquito, Spitfires (of course), Hurricanes, etc. I think that would make a great subject for a Group Build. Could probably include captured planes too like an Fw-109 with USAAF markings, etc.

Any thoughts?

Looks like some great ideas Vintage, especially the transports GB. i have a couple kicking around here, and there’s a big 1/48 C-130 in the LHS that keeps wanting to come home with me, that would give me a great reason to give it a home.

ive already done that, got bored one night and painted the aircraft that came with it.

Oh trust me gunny that is not evan close to what I have instore for the entire site. Still working out a few kinks but, it will be monumental. Oh and it has nothing to do with that game.

Quagmyre-I think this Axis VS. Allies build will encompas your birds too. Now to make it work I need to talk to some people in the Armor forum, and ship forum. All the details will be hammered out by atleast November.

Oh and Im happy that there are people that think just about every one of my ideas for GBs are good.

The workhorses idea is very appealing. I have a pretty ambitious project up my sleeve (1/48 C-130H to be turned into a KLu C-130H-30 stretched version, including homemade decals… none of which I have done before [xx(][:D]), which would fit the bill nicely. Storage might be a problem though…
Alternatively the USAF fighters idea might let me build some century series fighters like the F-102. Hmm… I’ll decide when the time comes.

I’m planning on building a MiG-15 for the ‘MiG Alley GB’ so I’d like to enter it in your ‘Korean War GB’ as well.

Maybe we can coordinate the two of them so those who’d like to participate in both, but with the same kit, might be able to do so. I’m planning on starting the ‘MiG Alley GB’ in June. Whaddya say?

Fade to Black…

Sounds good, I was thinking of starting mine around febuary, after my current GBs wind down but I could wait till June, infact it would be better if I strted it in June, gives me a little down time from responding to the posts. But back to the topic of descussion how would we corrdinate this? Maby there could be one for the Allies, and one for the Axis? Now your build is it going to be exclusively Russian Machines, or will it encompas all of the aircraft that participated? Ya know I could probably answer all these questions by looking at your GB post.

For the Axis vs Allies why not break it up into several chunks for example Midway, Battle of Britain, Blitzkrieg (France 1940), East front, North Africa etc. Maybe spread each over 2-3 months (if you did 2 month builds you could squeeze in 6 builds), perhaps start a new one after two months but allow 3 months to finish each, that way the subject keeps changing but the slower builders still have a reasonable amount of time to finish a build. You could get the whole war into 1 year, maybe 2 Europe, 2 Pacific, 1 East Front and 1 Med / Middle east / Africa build. Just a thought, I built quite a few American and German planes when I was younger but recently I have had an urge to build some WW2 Soviet, French and Italian aircraft. I plan to build some anyway but I have more fun doing them within a group build.

I might be up for the Korean War GB, my father in law was a Marine Corp Medic during the Korean War and the Workhorse GB, could find something to build for that one.
