fuse wire

Hi, I have seen “fuse wire” referred to in many articles but none of them really tell exactly what it is. I know it is some type of fine wire used for detailing. I have asked at two Radio Shacks around here (Syracuse NY) and they had no idea what it is. I do know from another source that RS does in fact carry it but it must be know by some other name. What other name might it go by and what gauges or sizes does it come in?

Thanks for any help on this, Bob Beary

Bob, try your local hardware store.

Fusewire is just the stuff you put in normal household fuse boxes, you the know the big ones that control the power coming into your house.

Fusewire usually comes on a card with various ampages, normally 5, 15, & 30Amps, the higher the ampage, the thicker the wire.

I use it for wiring and hydraulic lines, and it’s way cheaper than buying specialist modelling wire.

Hope this helps.
