I’m curious. What B-29 are you doing? I know there were a few in OD but I don’t think any went into service in OD, But of course I may be wrong.
I believe all B-29’s in service were in natural metal finish. If you want to do one in OD, use OD paint.

Here’s a couple of OD B-29’s.

Don’t know if any OD B-29 saw combat?
Hope this helps.

Since you are basically asking “do I use six or half-a-dozen” 'cat, I would say the answer is “YES”[:D]
Interesting pictures, though.
I might keep this in mind the next time I see a bargain-praced B-29.
I like the natural aluminum trim on all leading surfaces in addition to the usual two-tone O.D. and neutral grey.

I believe that at least one of the three B-29s the Russians “reverse engineered” to create the Tu-4 Bull was OD/Neutral Gray.
then what is the best way to finish the interior & exterior of a B29 superfortress
There were B-29 tankers used to deliver gas to China with the turrets removed that were in OD.
