Top of the evening all… [:)]
I became distracted from the B-722 cutaway project a few days ago after coming upon the idea of building an “MI dio” (M irror I mage)! I chose the Hasegawa 1/200 B-732, and used one of the Pioneer mirrored bottom 1/24 model car display case.
Here you can see how the Flap job shows when the plane sits on it’s wheels inside the mirrored base. All kinds of ideas are popping in my head and experimentation will continue.
The possibilities seems endless!
Enjoy,
Frank
Ingenious and perfectly executed. I love the partially extended wheels and flaps.
Now you’ll have to experiment with sound for wheel screech on touch downs!!!

whoa very very cool that looks awesome great idea and very well done.
That’s Awesome! Those outdoor shots really look great. Good job on something really interesting.
I think this is truly amazing. Sorry I haven’t posted sooner, I just found myself staring at the photos. Can’t wait to see what you do next.

Simply brilliant! Simple, yet awe-inspiringly effective–the stuff of genius!

Doog you took the word’s right out of my mouth.
Thanks very much fellows! [:)]
I’d been wracking my brain for over a year on how to realistically show a model in flight, but was going nowhere, mainly because I was approaching the idea from a technical standpoint, which was doing nothing but confusing the situation. So I backed off to the BASICS, and there it was, waiting to be found!
Doog ; I see you’re into motocross? Coincidently, one of the ideas I came across during this project was to slice a supercross bike and rider in half, and using the same mirror technique, mount them at the apex of one of those huge jumps (which would be dioramically built on the base), in a “Heart Attack” maneuver! (or ANY type maneuver where the bike and rider are symetric) Think about that for a little while? [;)]
Thanks again, and if I can be of any help regarding construction particulars, please don’t hesitate writing. [:)]
Take care,
Frank
A great idea, Frank–if olny you could find some decent motocross bike models out there! They’re rare, and really expensive on eBay!
But I’ll keep that in mind, for sure, if I ever get my hands on one!
how did you attach it to the mirror without any glue showing?
