Hi guys, I just finished up this 1/48 Scooter, thought you might like to see.
The kit was fantastic, in my opinion. Its an older kit as far as I can tell but the fit was sweet and it came together really nicely. The only thing I didn’t like was the color guide and the decal instructions. I left off most of the stencils because I had no idea where to place them. Any way, I finished it as part of the No Aftermarket Group Build.
I made it as a gift for a friends father who flew in VMA 211 during Vietnam. He couldn’t remember a BuNo for any of his planes so I made one up using the years he served in the Marines, '65-'70. I recently gave it to his son to give to him for his birthday. He hasn’t seen it yet, hopefully he likes it.

The bombs were hand painted, including the yellow ring. If any one has an easier way of placing that ring, I’d love to hear it! Hope you like it**, comments and criticism is welcome**!
Heck, what’s not to like?! The weathering looks real good and gives the basic two-tone color scheme a lot of depth. For the bombs, you can paint the yellow first, then use tiny rubber bands as masks before shooting the olive drab. Still, for hand-painted bands, they look darn good. Your friend’s dad will be very pleased I’m sure. [Y]

Ruddratt thanks for the tip. Those would have to be some small rubber bands! Where would I find one’s that tiny, other than a dentist’s office?
Jimbot before I started this plane, later versions of the A-4 with the avionics dorsal hump was my preferred version. Not sure why. But since doing this one, I have changed my mind. You’re correct, it looks a lot sleeker and less like it needs to lose a few pounds or something…
Jetmodeler the A-4 is certainly one of my favorite plans so I can’t believe this is the only one I’ve ever done. I also can’t believe I’m giving it away!
Mucker glad you like the base. I was worried it was a little too small and may have looked like an after thought. The more I look at it the better I feel though.
It looks there is a combo of raised and recessed detail. How was the cockpit? The wheelwell detail looks a bit plain, but could easily be dressed up. You really made a nice looking Scooter! [Y]
Thank you Tango 1, coming from a guy who just finished a very nice looking A-4 yourself, your comment is greatly appreciated! Also, any one know why its nicknamed the Scooter? I had always assumed it was for its rather diminutive size, but I don’t know for sure.
