Alrighty, Quagmyre asked me to post the results of the quiz because he’s having trouble logging onto the forums. So here we go…

There were 15 responses for the first photo. You had to ID all six aircraft.

That’s a TDR-1 assault drone, manufactured by Wurlitzer Company and assembled at Interstate Aircraft Plant, DeKalb Division.

This particular aircraft is in the training configuration with accomodation for a ‘safety pilot’ whose function was to recover the aircraft if control was lost by the DCP (Drone Controller Pilot) in the Avenger control plane. The ‘safety pilot’ was necessary because training flights were usually made on objects such as lighthouses and even ships of the fleet!

The only operational deployment of the aircraft was in Sept/Oct 1944 (AFTER the program had been cancelled); the unit involved being STAG ONE (Special Task Air Group One) which was composed of two squadrons, VK-11 & VK-12.) STAG ONE was the first of three planned groups to be formed by SATFOR (Special Air Task Force).

BTW, one TDR was borrowed by the USAAF for testing and designated BQ-4. Subsequent variants of the TDR were also eyed by the USAAF, with designations of BQ-5 & BQ-6 being allocated, but no further aircraft were procured.
