I am so frustrated with MRC Corporation. For over a month I have been calling and emailing them looking for a replacement decal sheet for the Accurate Miniatures Kit 1/48 TBM-1C Flight 19 kits. I have left at least a dozen messages, email them repeatedly and I can’t get anyone to return a email or phone call.
They are terrible. A couple years ago I got a kit that had a malformed part. I called them, finally got a person after multiple tries, gave them the kit number and part number. It took them over a year to send me the part. And they sent the wrong part anyway.
Now Revell is an example of how it should be done. My dad had a P-51 kit that was missing a canopy (or he lost it). I went to the Revell site, fuilled out the lost part form, clicked submit, and less than two weeks later he got the entire clear parts sprue.
Yeah, that makes you appreciate the GOOD merchants even more! Recently I had an order mixup with Squadron. The customer service manager replied immediately and promptly fixed everything to my satisfaction. I’ll continue to be their steady customer, for things I can’t find at the LHS. I have been ordering from Squadron for many years, and I can highly recommend them.
Revell has the hottest customer service on the face of the planet.
Although MRC should not ignore anyone’s requests, it might be worthy of note that Accurate Miniatures has been defunct more than a few moons now, unfortunately. They had some good stuff too. I love my P-39/P-400 Airacobra kit. Eduard plastic, with canopy masks included, and an instruction booklet which reflects well done research, and an obvious care taken to provide the modeler with an enjoyable building experience.
I think I can safely speak for many modelers in saying they are missed.
I finally got though to someone at MRC, Brandi. I asked her if it was possible to get the Flight 19 decal set. She said that Accurate Miniatures was no more. She said that if they had the decal sheets in the left over stock she would call me back. I asked her if Accurate Miniatures was going to make any more models and she said that it wasn’t in the plan. Last week I bought four TBM’s off eBay but it was kind of a weird deal. They had no boxes, no decals and photographed instructions. It felt like a clearing house M& W something can’t remember the name. But all the kits were as advertised.
Sad about Accurate Miniatures they made great kits.
Oh and one more thing about Revell. I 100% agree that their customer service is outstanding.
On a funny note just Friday I got a part from them with a note that said "Thank you for selecting the Revell B17 kit. Per our records this is the 5th part we have shipped you for this kit, please consider purchasing another kit. I scanned a copy of the note, took a picture of the 15 Revell B17G kits I have in my stash and emailed them back and said, thank you for the great customer service, thank you for the parts, per your note you still owe me 75 more parts and that’s if I don’t purchase anymore kits.
I got an email back from Revell.
Dear Mr. Benton
How many of those kits are finished?
I replied back…
None I keep screwing up the parts lol
Revell replied back
LOL
Great company, great customer service, and a sense of humor to boot.
The Ebay guy selling the AccuMini kits with no box or decals, etc is Mywinterauctions…I think. I bought a 'Tuskeegee ’ p51…alls it was was a p51c kit…no decals …in a Tuskeegee airman box…what a croc of ****!
…to finish my thought…I think that guy got a bunch of leftover stuff and he’s trying to make ‘kits’ out of them. Good prices though…if you don’t mind what he’s doing.
I work in retail and customer service is the name of the game, If you E-mail them and threaten to email trading standards, or find the email of the director and send them an email of exactly what the problem is the director or whoever is in charge will come down on them and you should get the stuff you need. If not tell them you will tell facebook and twitter exactly how bad their customer service is and that believe me will scare the shit out of them as bad news about a business on a social network can cost a company dear!
Too bad about Accurate Miniatures- they made nice stuff and provided good service; But they’re gone, time to move on to other reputable suppliers. Tayima web site provided me with prompt service, sending me a missing part, no charge, recently.
