Looks real good Frosty. You’re doing nice work on these WWI aircraft.

Regards, Rick

Looks like another rikisaku, Frosty-chan!
Keep us posted!

thanx, Burian-sama & rjk !
i will post more pix next week, hopefully
of the finished (did i just say that ?) a/c…

[tup] Hey Frosty, Nice work! Looking forward to the completion of the project. BTW who produced the kit? Again, very nice work.
Cheers,
Eric

thanx, Eric !
the kit is by Roden, 1/72 scale…
nice kit, but the decals r really bad…
i have ordered aftermarket lozenge decals 4 my next
Dvii build (i’m now addicted 2 wwi a/c, i think…)

Looks great Frosty !
A very colorful bird.

Chris

Looking good Frosty, keep it up!

Great stuff, as always Frosty!! Do you do the rigging, too? I’ve never done any rigging in any scale! Yep, I be scared! LOL - Calvin

thanx 4 the kind comments, folks !
here r the most recent pix of the dvii:

she’s almost done !

lodni_k:
i actually have done rigging on my 1/72 wwi a/c…
but the late fokker a/c have very little rigging on them,
just a few bracing wires & some control wires 4 the rudder,
ailerons & elevators… so they would b a good place 2 start !

Man…I love it frosty! Well done-- there is no indication here that you had decal problems to be sure…

All the white in that paint scheme would scare me off [;)]

yep, because i stripped the lozenge off the top wing
where it was looking really bad.
the white wasn’t a problem… i just knew not 2 try spraying
gloss white, used tamiya matte instead (covers better, dries faster)
w/ a future overcoat…
i’ve actually added some rigging since i took these ,
so the final round of pix will b up next week.
thanx 4 the comments, Jeeves !

Looking great Frosty. Very nice work.

Frosty, I’ve read that some decal fixing solution (like that offered by Micro Scale), or even a coat of Future on the decals, goes a long way toward making Roden’s decals more usable.

It’s great that there’s another WWI aviation fan in our ranks now! Your Fokker looks great. Which aftermarket decals did you order? Americal-Griffon?

Regards,

Outstanding Frosty! I can almost see my scarf blowin in the prop wash! Love it!

Wow, Frosty!! Awesome as always! Does someone make one of those in 1/48 scale? I have done a biplane (Testors Newport-17) but that lozenge stuff looks pretty complicated! - Calvin

Your plane really looks good. It’s the kind of work that would inspire me to do WWI A/C.

Looking real good Frosty. Is that the Roden 1/48th kit?

Hey Frosty,

Yup, I agree with all said above. Very nice work, indeed! Like Kielers, you’ve inspired me to give WWI airplanes a try… eventually.

Keep up the excellent building.

Take care,

Mark

Lufbery:
the lozenge decals that came w/ the kit were incredibly brittle & cracked in pieces
as soon as they were immersed in water… a couple of coats of Future helped 2
hold them together better, but they were still hard 2 work w/…
i used major amounts of microsol & microset 2 get them 2 snuggle onto the wings
& still wasn’t happy w/ the look of the top surface of the upper wing, so i ended up
changing the scheme from what i’d originally planned. i kind of like how it is looking
now, tho’…
i got replacement lozenge decals from eagle strike, upper & lower in both
4 & 5 color schemes & still have some rib tape decals left over, so i’m ready
4 my next DVii build… maybe Ernst Udet’s ‘LO!’ w/ the red & white candy striped
upper wing…
