Friuls on an RC tank?

I was thinking about putting, say, a Tamiya RC kingtiger (1/35 scale) on my christmas list, and I was curious as to whether friuls would be compatible with it. I don’t want to use the rubber band tracks because they’re pretty much impossible to paint and weather (not to mention the lack of detail and sag), so I was curious as to whether Friuls would A) stand up to some occasional driving (could the track pins quickly wear through the soft metal?) and B) would the Tamiya RC tank be powerful enough to throw around the heavier metal tracks?

I can’t see how the tracks would last more than an afternoon. That’s not what they were designed for… That metal would wear out pretty quick.

[dto:] White metal isn’t very durable and is actually relatively soft when compared to things like steel or aluminum. I doubt they would last very long at all if put under any kind of weight/running stress as the torque involved with an RC drive alone might be enough to tear them up. Fruils are meant for static use only and that would be an awfully expensive experiment (in both time and materials) that could potentially be destroyed in a very short space of time.

You’d also have to consider potential wear/damage to the drive sprockets, which aren’t meant to drive metal tracks.

Not really… I paint them up all the time with no problem (priming them with clear laquer will go a long way in providing them with some “tooth” for the enamel to grab), and sag is easily modeled with a combination of tying and super-glueing in strategic areas…

I have never really tried the Fruils in RC tank but I tried it with old Tamiya motorized Panzer III. I agree with others that it would wear out quickly in a faster RC tank. If you replaced the pins with something stronger (like sewing pins), it could probably last longer.

He can’t really glue and tie the tracks to make it look sagging and expect the RC Tiger to run.
