Friulmodel PzI Tracklinks

Has anyone worked with, and built up a set of Friulmodel links for the PzI?! I’m interested in knowin’ what they’re like to work with at this size, and how they look.

Well, I’ve never done the Pz1, but I’ve fiddled with SdKfz 251 and Pz III Fruils. Be aware that these smaller track blocks will require drilling out the links. This can make a grown man cry. I used my dremel tool with a 1/32nd mandrel to speed up the process with a micro bit. One very neat technique I use is once they are all drilled, lay a piece of two sided tape down and assemble the blocks on the tape, inserting the wire or pins is then very speedy. Once the wire is in and trimmed, apply a small drop of CA.

Be careful when drilling these small track blocks, the metal is very soft and will bend or the links will break off if tooo much pressure is applied.

Here is a string of SdKfz 7, they are pretty small:

It is just an exersize in patience, but the realistic value is worth the effort:

Good luck,

Steve

I don’t envy your task. Too bad they don’t come together except for fastening one end to the other. How cool would that be?

They look very nice, Steve!
