Friends outside of the forum?

I’m really new here, and from reading around, it seems that a few of you are pretty good friends. Do any of you know each other outside the forum, like in day to day life? Just curious.

I don’t know them on a day to day basis, but after getting together with them recently I like to consider Robert (Shermanfreak) and Max (PantherLehr) friends …
regards,
Bruce

Not as of yet, but will be meeting a few of the members at Tamiya Con, and in Phoenix at the IPMS Nationals.

When’s the IMPS Nationals? I’d like to go. I live in Yuma so it’s not far.

Nats are August 4-7. See ya there.

Lots of good friends in the forums, but the only FSM member I know outside of cyberspace is Norio Takemura (Easy Eight), one of my many respected modeling buddies here in Japan. Or should I say sensei!

although having only been active on these forums since around october, i do feel as though i’ve got quite a few friends here on the forums[:)].
i have yet to meet up with any of the guys i regularly converse with, although since most of you guys are stateside, i’m a bit limited to the guys over here in the UK…who knows i might meet some of them when the summer “season” of air and display shows begins?
could be fun…[:D]
regards,
nick

Well, I’ve got a couple of very good friends from the forums, but then I knew 'em before the forums existed! They’re all from my club, and a better group of guys one couldn’t ask for. Well, mostly… [;)]

As to some of the others here, even if I don’t meet them face to face I still feel as though I’ve got a good group of friends. Even if we don’t always agree.

And if the modeling gods are kind to me again this year, I may just meet some in August…

Fade to Black…

J-Hulk,
Where in Japan are you?

i have only been active in this forum for about a month. but these people share a common activity, common interests, and sometimes common goals. for those reasons alone they have become in some aspects a type of family. i am glad i joined this group. i look forward to a long relationship.

Howdy, usmcsm!
I’m smack-dab in the middle of Osaka.
Are you in Japan?

J-Hulk,
No, not now. I have lived there for a combined 9 years of my life though. I lived there 3 years as a kid and when I joind the Corps went to Iwakuni several times. Also spent a few years on Okinawa. I love Japan! What a modlers paridise! Last trip over before I retired I brought back a lot of kits, paints, magazines for ref. etc… Osakas a nice town. What are you doing there?

Well, the only person i’ve really met from this forum is Allan because, being the nice guy that he is, he invited me over to their IPMS meeting. I hope to attend more and maybe join one day. The other person that i know outside of cyberspace is Redknight38 because we’ve been buddies since the 6th grade! Can’t wait to meet more of you guys in the real world! [:D]

It is indeed a paradise! Not for my wallet, though…[;)]
I love Osaka. I’ve lived in Shiga (beautiful countryside), Fujisawa (beautiful beaches…sort of!), Tokyo (big bustling metropolis…not my cup of tea!), and out of 'em all, Osaka is my fave. Thus, here I am!
I work as a medical liaison/insurance agent.

I know a few fellow forumers, but yet to met any face to face… As most people here feel, i consider most to be good friends… I hope that some day i get to meet a bunch in person…

Hey blackwolfscd, I’m about 6 hours from you, and i was hoping to attend the show you guys put on up there!!! When exactly is it, and do have any flyers or anything like that???

J-Hulk,
True enough about the cost of livin’ but when the Yen rate was right I was able to shave off some good money on Hasagawa and Tamiya kits compared to state side prices. When the Tamiya 1/32 F-4C/D Phantom kit came out I picked it up for $20 less.
I also like the way they do not shrink wrap the kits. Every time I bought one they would cut the ribbon off and let me look inside to make sure I was happy with the product before I laid down my cash. Can’t find that in the States!

As for friends from the forum I have not met any face to face but am in e-mail contact with some of them. It’s only a matter of time before some of us get together at a show or something!!!
This is a great outlet for me because I finally get to talk to people who love this hobby like I do. Don’t meet too many of them very often. Most people DO NOT understand the blood, sweat and tears we put into a project.

Gee, thanks, Shrikes. [:)] You’re a gentleman yourself. Btw, our club is always open for you. And we can have some of the street food you mentioned in your earlier thread.[dinner]

You just have to love this place!!!

I am a fairly recent addition to the forums. I have yet to meet anyone but after being apart of this talkfest for the last couple of months I feel like I know something about a few of the guys. If anyone is close to Hartford Connecticut let me know and we’ll try and get together for a model chat. JOHN

Hey all,
I too have a few friends on here that I hang out w/. They’re all from my club as well. Believe me who could ask for a better bunch of friends[:p].
Does anyone see a pattern here??[;)] Anywho I believe everyone here is a friend of mine even if we have never met face to face.
You never know, one day we may meet up at a local show or hobby shop.
Flaps up, Mike
