I’ve seen examples of Francois Verlinden’s work in his publications and in old issues of Military Modeler magazine. I own two of his books and while I very much admire his talent, I am not interested in owning a genuine Verlinden for $500.00.

its good but not wortth the money.
Come on, a guy’s gotta make a living.
You know, really, for the guy’s name, reputation, and ground-breaking, pioneering work in the Armor modelling field, the asking price is not overpriced at all. I mean, this guys was the Rembrandt of the hobby for many years, has inspired countless millions woth his work, and has spawned an entire company and a huge industry to help us all out with some of the very first aftermarket parts mass-produced with reasonable prices.
I think if you could get the ridiculous–and I mean _RIDICULOUS –_prices out there what some of the garbage that passes as “Art”, by lesse-known “artists”, I think that $800.00 for a real work of Art by a living legend and master of the hobby is reasonable, for sure.
He was a huge influence to me early on, and I hail him as a real master and inspiration!
I agree…I mean the dough is for WHO built it, not really as much the actual subject…
The serious model collector (not builder) probably wouldn’t find these prices that outrageous. I know guys who spend thousands of dollars on guitars, yet they can’t play a note.
No disrespect, but I was never particularly impressed with Mr. Verlinden’s work in armor and never saw any ground-breaking pioneering going on. What impressed me (and continues to do so) was his painting skill.
Take you pick. There are a couple dozen on ebay. Your chance to own something from the Master.
