Foyle's war movie question re. Spitfire

Gentlemen, I watched a TV episode of Foyle’s war the other day. This particular episode was set in 1941. At one point, a pilot flies a Spitfire to test a radar’s detection capabilities.

The Spitfire he was flying had a four bladed propeller and two long barreled guns/cannons close to the wing roots.

I know that there were Spitfires with four bladed propellers but were they around in 1941?

Thanks…

No I think the spit they used was a IX

A couple of Spitfires appeared in episodes of Foyles’s War, a Mk Vb and Mk IXc.

It’s pushing it a bit, but the first Mk.IX (converted from the Mk.III) flew in September 1941, being transferred to the A.& A.E.E., at Boscombe Down in October.

Well, just shows that the director uses what’s available. Just think of how much more interesting the classic movie “Battle of Britain” would have been with 109E’s rather than the Bouchon’s?
