Dear freids,
i live in Brazil and I am traveling to Orlando in 10 days or so. As a consequence, I want to buy some chemicals that are not easely available, if at all, in Brazil.
1- Pledge with Future Polish: how many 27 oz is enough for, say, safely getting me through 1 year worth of modeling. I ( intend to do 1/35 AFVs, 1/350 ships and 1/24 and 1/32 WWII planes).
2 - is there a " non nonsense, proven brand of hairspray for chipping and etc"
3 - does anyone has a strong preference between Vallejo Model and Vallejo Airmaster? Do you feel you have to use the branded thinner or regular distiles water has the same effect and the valejjo thinner is just a braded waste of money?
4 - given my focus on the WWII models, theree are 72 sets that come in the boxfor Model Air. Since iModel Air has only about 110 colors, this seems like a sensible purchase ( kind of like the plastic case because it will be easy to carry during the trip). however, I cant find the colors that are in there. i have no interest in gaming or fluorecent colors, for example. Has anyone had any experience that could give me some light on this.?

i would say to stock up on future but it does yellow if sat for a long time.
A bottle or two of Future will get you through a year, unless your build rate is phenomenally high. I have used Vallejo Model Air without thinning it, and like it, both for feeding though my airbrush and for the shade of color (US Blue-Grey and US Light Grey, mainly).

Guess that 2 bottles of Future is the right amount as my modeling production is far from high. On the other hand, I gather that about 1 year shoul not be enough to get it yellow(ish).
About the hairbrush, any substance in the formulation that i should look for and/or avoid?
Being bald my self I can realy say that I am an specialist on the subject. I want to try finding a suitable substitute in Brazil.

One bottle should last a year. I’ve been working on one for about the same amount of time, but it’s not all that expensive, so a second bottle backup wouldn’t hurt.

Aquanet works well and is uber cheap. It can be decanted into an airbrush, or you can spray from the aerosol can too.

Distilled water thins Vallejo excellently for spraying. Initially you really dont need to thin to brush paint, but after it sits in the paint tray a while you may want to break it up with some water. Don’t waste money on their thinner. I have some and don’t even like it that much. I really don’t understand the difference between all the lines.
**4. I’ve researched that set a little and best I can tell there are a good number of colors in there that will be useless for military modeling. Vallejo used to put kits together for certain topics. There were some for Luftwaffe colors, British colors night, day, and desert. US Navy, etc. etc. etc. LifeColor is another acrylic option you may try also. They have similar sets for both armor and aircraft. They thin beautifully with distilled water too, and spray better than Vallejo in my opinion.
Thinking about it, the Model Air set may be a good buy if it has 72 of a 100 or so colors. I believe the Model Air line is for WWII aircraft. I was thinking of the big 200+ Vallejo set.

Guess i will get the acqua net non aerosol. Does it make a diference if it is extra hold/ strong or just strong? Sorry for the silly questions.
Not look at the real color line yet. Will do. What enchayed me on the vallejo isthe wide variety (even though i do not think that it will be usefor all those diferent colors.
What is also curiosisthattne setcolors habe diferent numbers that the ones sold separatly. Almost as if they are not the same color.

I don’t think it matters what hairspray you get as far a “hold.” My logic tells me the regular would work better than Extra hold because it’d be less sticky and easier to lift up. But that doesn’t make me right.
I don’t know familiar you are with US stores.
“Future” can be a bit difficult to find.
The best bet would be to find a Walmart store (it shouldnt be hard to find one of these). You could also pick up the hair spray there.
In Walmart the Future will be in the brooms and mops section. In smaller Walmarts that section is located on the grocery/food side of the store.
Yup, mitsdude is right. Also, it’s bottled as “Pledge with future shine” or something like that. If you like I can put up a pic of the bottle so you know what to look for.
