After spraying Tamiya Dark Yellow on a side skirt of a Tamiya Hetzer, I found several scratches which are visible through the paint. Which of the following would be my best option?
I’d say option 1 or option 3. Sanding after more base coats should do it. I’d go for something more coarse than 1000, though. Maybe 400 or 600. Once you get rid of scratches, the final paint restores the appearance.
Personally, I’d wet sand (if not possible just normal dry sand) without stripping, as the paint in scratches will help to give you some measure of reference on how much sanding to go. Depending on how deep the scratches are is what grade of sand paper I’d start with. If you didn’t notice them till painting I’d probably start with 6-800 then move to 1000 then if you thing it needs 1500-2000 then clean and repaint.
