I recently purchased the Squadron book, " SS Armor ".I have read the SS recieved all the new or good equipment.While reading it I saw the " usual suspects " But throuout the book was an odd tank.In the photo’s it was referred as the PzBefWg 111 Aus K. The main gun & mantle were differant than any Panzer 3’s or 4’s. Anyone care to enlighten me & does any model company make one ? Thanks ahead gang. Semper fi , rudedog
Dragon does. It’s OOP, but can be found on ebay, perhaps some of the online shops. It was a command tank with a dummy gun. In it’s place they held a larger radio.
Great Models shows it as “In Stock”. http://www.greatmodels.com/~smartcart/cgi/display.cgi?item_num=DML9018 so it’s possible it’s been re-released and/or GM secured a supply from somewhere.
It is one of their older “Imperial Series” kits but I’ve built a couple of the Pz IIIs/StuGs in that line and found them to be decent kits. I actually have this kit in the stash (along with at least 1 of all the other DML Pz III kits [:D] except the Tauch Panzer.)
Can’t have too many of the Pz III’s. [tup] I have the J and the Stug G Late. Didn’t you share a build of the Pz III M?
It’s the one Dragon Panzer III kit I own. I bought it because it looked interesting. Eduard does a PE set for it too.
Thanks tigerman [ and the rest of you ].I’m gonna check out GM for the tank,but if the germans went thru the trouble of making it a command & communication tank,I think it would make a neat model with a removableturret top if there’s an A.M. company that has the extra radio gear. The only III’s I’ve done are the Tamiya L (twice) and the DML J. I’ve got two of the M/N kits (have to be able to do both, right? [:D]) in the stash but haven’t gotten to them yet. I went through a buying frenzy on the III series kits fearing they’d become hard to get so have a pretty good stack of IIIs to work through. I’m still waiting for the Pre-Order on the E/F I placed over a year ago to get filled…hope still flickers but only faintly. [:(]
I just bought the Dragon Pzkpfw III Ausf K a couple weeks ago at a half-price sale. I didn’t know anyone made a PE set for it. I will have to check that out. Thanks for the info Rob!

Hadn’t heard anything about the E/F. It’s been their catalog for 2 years now like the Ersatz. Is it going to be an updated kit? My guess is it will with PE this and AM that. Perhaps magic tracks too. Had I not gotten the J, I would get this one and make an Afrika Korps version.

The E/F release was supposed to be a fully new retooling…but I placed that pre-order in June 2005…so who knows what’s going on with that…GM still has it listed for Pre-Order so it’s not dead yet but I’m beginning to wonder.
As far as a DAK variant goes, you need a G or later for that depending on the timeframe you are depicting.
