In 2016 when I joined the FSM forum I was deep in a Finnish WWII study rabbit hole and chose the name “suomi39” on a quick whim, not knowing I’d find such a fun community and end up sticking around. Since then I’ve had A LOT of people assume that I am Finnish or am from Finland, while I’m an American with only some Finn heritage.
Figured with the change to the new forum, it would be a good time to change my username to be less confusing. SO – I’m Tom from Minnesota, where my Finnish ancestors homesteaded in the tiny north woods community of Toimi.
Thanks for the welcome, folks, even on this old thread, ha! I’ve changed my avatar away from that photo of the Finnish soldier, for mostly the same reasons I changed my username back in December.
I changed it to the same “logo” I’m using on my Instagram account. It’s not a business or anything, just a place where I share various projects from my areas of interest, mainly scale modeling and woodworking.
