It’s great to see auto ers coming out of the woodwork! My first love is cars. Enjoy helicopters, planes and an occasional Star Trek, but autos are my first. Will have to check out Scale Auto. Haven’t been there for a while.

Scale Auto isn’t the same since they dropped the “Enthusiast” from the end.
SAE was the model car mag. . .now it is just. . .different.

i guess my idea about scale auto having their own forums wasnt so far off after all!!!.i’d be spending most of my time over there for sure.when they get it going we ( auto modelers) wont have to hide in the modeling closet anymore!
a thought just entered my mind since were talking about the lack of auto builders in the forums, i’ve noticed that no one has even brought up the fact that there is not a place or for that matter a thread about big trucks? are these guys even around? i like to build truck models almost as much as autos. most of my trucks end up as fire fighting rigs, but thats another subject. anyone have any thoughts on this???
I’m not sure if there are a whole lots of people in that genre… look at the auto forum, i think big trucks and such may be less popular… and it’s a shame, they are way cool…
yea, i went surfing on here and found 1 post about trucks, i suppose they might have a web forum all there own somewhere else?
Scale Auto has the wrong focus for me, I flick through it occassionally in the shop but I’m after F1, rally and prototype/sportscars not road cars etc. FSM is brilliant because it show cases the best of all disciplines and there is generally something I can get from each issue I can apply even if its from another sector. In fact the Oct issue’s review of the Eduard X-1 had me thinking “I can do that” and its now ordered ready for a Christmas build. The came the Nov issue and the FW 19a looked so different I decided to do the same but its not yet or no longer available so I thought how about the T-34 just the thing to do in a weekend and wind up my brother-in-law who seems to just “collect” armour kits rather than build them, but that kits appears no longer available here in my home town either. So 2 potential projects from that issue down the drain. Now that I’ve changed the subject one thing I would like to see is more scale diagrams by authors, it would be so much easier to replicate the modifications described.
Big trucks!! I haven’t biult one since I was a young’n but I’m dying to build one. I’ve got too many other kits in the queue right now, so I’m not gonna buy anything (except I heard there’s a new Ferrari team truck and trailer out… anyone seen this or have a link?? Is it for the F1 team??)
I’ll bet I had 7 or 8 trucks built up as a kid. I loved 'em! Wish I had them today… (my Dad thinks all my old kits are stored away somewhere at home, but they’ve gone through a move since I left home and I’m not getting my hopes up too much…)
Murray (not a truck builder, but sure would like to be…)
I just may try to build one, seeing that i’m going to truck driving school starting next week !!!
yea the big trucks! i remember when you could still buy them for a decent price.i once had 15 or so built up and my first wifes cat jumped up on the shelf and knocked the whole thing off. i had a million parts scatterd all over the floor. that sucked[soapbox], and i hate to say it but they all ended up in the trash. she was against my modeling any way. but she is as long gone as the models. good and bad iguess[:-^]the current prices of some of those is really kind of high, i try ebay some times and you can still find some good deals on the older issues. i dont think i will ener forgive myself for not keeping the 2 kenworths in 1/16 scale that monogram had out years ago, in better shape. i let my then 2 year old keep them in his room cause he thought they were cool. hindsight is 20 20 as we all know[#wstupid]
