This is just an observation, but i have noticed in the last few days, most of the forums have been busy, except for autos and perhaps Sci-fi!!! Why is that???
I gues planes and tanks are where it’s at??!!
What is your opinion…[sigh]

I have been hard at work finishing my Honda NSR-250 Repsol. Which is will be complete after minor touch ups.
So now I have to choose between a Red Bull YAMAHA WCM YZR500 '99 or FORD FOCUS WRC. So doing some research on both to see what will be next.
I only like autos so this is were it is at for me
dss902
seems to me that the whole fsm mag tends to lurk more towards the air and armor? thats what i always got out of it. thats why i subscribe to scale auto( sister mag), if scale auto had a forum the scales would be tipped in our favor.
hey guys,
dss902, go with the Focus…
Firemodelman, i agree with you 100%!!! I also subscibe to Scale Auto
However, it does get lonley in here…
I’ve been an avid aircraft modeler for 25 years. But now I’ve just gotten bored with them. Its always the same old thing day in and day out. The same subjects keep getting rehashed and it wears on you after a while.
My favorite part of modeling is painting. It’s what I do best, so thats where I put a lot of effort. After a while all aircraft finishes start to feel the same…flat paint wtih lots of decals everywhere. Thats what has attracted me to cars, the quest for that perfect paint job. I’ve owned a Micro Mesh polishing kit for years. I just used it for the first time last week on a Porsche 911, boy was that fun. Never had a use for it on aircraft! I hope to use it many more times.
I hope you guys don’t mind the intrusion from an aircraft modeler [:)].

[#welcome]One down many more to go…[#welcome]
Slowly but surley, the auto forum will convert you all!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!
Welcome Darren… glad you converted, i mean came over to our corner of the forum… lol
hope you enjoy here…
Whats going to be your next project???
If you love to paint, autos is where it’s at!!!
Love to see some pics!!!
Thank you for chosing our forum…HAHAHAHA
I mostly build airplanes, but lately I’ve been working on a couple of cars. Lately I’ve been working on a Bugatti EB110. It’s one of my all time dream cars and I’m trying to do it right. Cars are a lot of fun to build really, and I think I’ll be doing more of them in the future. My first love is still planes though. [:)]
I bought some wire for replacing the suspension springs, and for battery cables and whatnot. I plan to do the best job I know how on this car, even though I’m just an average modeler at best. Reading through the auto forum has helped me quite a bit too!
I don’t guess anyone has pics of the Bugatti with the front open? I could use some pics of that area, and can’t seem to find them online. Everyone here has been a teriffic help to me, even though I haven’t probably said that much. Thanks everyone.
[sigh] I haven’t forgotten about autos LOL[sigh]
Matter fact did some work on my stock car last night…[censored][censored] gaps in between the cylinder heads and valve covers…I filled I sanded I filled and I sanded finally I said******on it…shot some medium gap filling CA in there and glued the bad boys on…Didnt get a chance to check it this morning…

Hey guys! I’m here too. Unfortunately, my bench and tools are all still ‘packed’ from my recent move to my new house (July). I just don’t have anything on the go at the moment and I’ve got a few other things on the honey-do list before I get to the bench. I do build a variety of things (a few planes, and I’m getting more and more interested in armor), but my roots are in autos.

HEY,
Scale auto all the way. I am also getting into armor but i will never stop building autos. It is really one of the only things you can build however you want and it could still be realistic. I have to agree that painting the body is the best. That is when you just let your creativity flow. GO AUTOS!![BANGHEAD]
Randy
ok, i’m starting to feel the warmth in here…
Building autos is all I have interest in doing.
I love to drive and ‘tinker’ (some more than just ‘tinker’ with my 1:1 cars. I have owned a variety of Honda products (seven different models in the last nine years) in my short life.
Building auto models lets me get familiar with models and makes that I know I won’t probably ever own for one reason or another. I also like building cars I have owned or do own. Plus it’s easy to get reference that way, I just have to step out into the garage
My favourite build was of a Honda S800. I liked building that car so much, I am now on the hunt to own a real one.
BTW, I have zero interest in Armor, anything that flies or floats!

Thanks for the kind words Ron. Tamiya’s Enzo is the next project that I’ll be starting either today or tomorrow. After that I may build a Modena, Nissan 350Z or Toyota Celica…or maybe an F1, that new Williams BMW from Tamiya would be nice. Eventually I’ll build them all! I’m leaning towards the 350Z though.
I don’t have a digital camera so I have to do it the old fashioned way and put it on a disk. I hope to get some pictures soon.
Thanks for the warm welcome
Darren
Soon, very soon… [;)]
The redesign for the Scale Auto site has been in the works for a couple of weeks. It takes awhile to go through meetings, designs, development, etc. Other than setting up their forum, I’m not involved with the project, but it’s looking good. It won’t be too long now.
WOW … KOOOOOOOL !!!
Ourown forum!!!
I wonder if i’ll be missed here??? LOL J/K
As soon as I finish unpacking my model gear from our move, I’ll be starting on my chopper. I want to take a 1/6 scale Harley from Tamiya and do a little chopping on it. I want to make a hardtail out of it and make a new tank and fenders for it. I’m trying to find some good pics of a belt drive primary so I can try and scratch one out. I need to get one of those 1/6 scale die cast choppers from Arlen Ness so I can rob the wheels and tires from it yet too. Can’t wait to get started on it. Then I have a 1/12 scale Yamaha that I found some good PE parts for it that I want to get to. The place is still a wreck with all the boxes that need unpacking though.
There’s nothing wrong with bikes, planes or armor. I build all of them, but prefer autos. FSM does seem to concentrate on planes and armor, but as the editor says, the reason they don’t have more articles on the subjects you prefer is that not enough people writes them and sends them in.
Besides, Scale Auto is a better mag for cars, anyway.
Cheers
LeeTree
You won’t be missed because we won’t let you leave. [;)]
I’ll have to make it so that any attempt at entering the Scale Auto site you’ll be redirected back here. [:p]
Well, the December 2003 issue of FSM has a six-page auto feature by yours truly – a gloss-finish how-to on Tamiya’s 1/24 scale Jaguar Mk. II:
The issue also features Workbench Reviews of Hasegawa’s 1/24 scale WWII Jeep and Tamiya’s 1/20 scale Williams FW24 F-1 car.
We haven’t forgotten the car guys!
