Ford GT40 seats

Does anyone have a good method for painting/ presenting the seats on any of the Ford GT versions that need little silver rings spaced equally across and up the seat? Has anyone actually executed their technique?

Thanks,
Rick

You could paint the entire area with a silver lacquer or enamel based paint, let it thoroughly dry, then paint the rest of the seat with an acrylic. Once the second coat is dry, rub the acrylic paint off with a toothpick or something, exposing the silver underneath. Also, use primer under the silver to help it adhere better so you don’t risk rubbing it off as well.

If you find an easy way to accomplish this let me know. I painted all of these by hand on one of the Revell kits. Now I am half blind and out of Jack Daniels.

Find a piece of narrow diameter tubing, dip one cut end into the paint, and press it on the seat. Repeat as necessary.

The tube will initially fill with paint, so you dip blow press, dip blow press. People may stop and make fun of you and it’s tedious, but it works.
