I was thinking of buying a Ford GT kit and have only found the Jada one and was wondering if there were any others and how they were.
Polar Lights does the 2005 Ford GT with pre-painted bodies, haven’t built one, so can’t comment on anything other than their availability. It has mixed reviews according to some people over on Scale Auto.
I have the Fujimi GT-40 Mark II in my stash. I haven’t done anything other than drool on it, but Scott Van Aken seems to like it.
I have been a fan of the GT-40 since I first saw it, and it rivals the Lambo Miura for sexiest car shape. I was thrilled when Ford updated it for the street, but have been disappointed with the reviews. Another car I won’t (read can’t) buy! [;)]
For me the classic IMC GT40 kits from the 60’s are it. Opening doors, front & rear decklids, etc. They were difficult/challenging to build, but way ahead of their time in many ways. Much more fun than the Fuijimi curbsides.
I’ve got a couple of the Mark II’s and a Mark IV in my stash.
Revell/Monogram also re-released their GT40 a few years ago. I think it was originally an Aurora mold.

AMT made the GT in both regular and snap. I have both, well actually the snap is my kid’s. I haven’t built it, but it looks good. They should still be around, and fairly cheap.

I have 5 or 6 of the IMC kits in my stash. I started doing preliminary work on the GT40 in the '70s but put it back in the box to be reborn after my skills got better. It is a difficult kit, but if done right, becomes a nice replica. Some day my skills may be good enough to re-open the box for another try. [^o)]

Do any of the Ford GT-40 kits come with engine detail?
The IMC kits have a basic engine, transmission, and exhaust system with good details and some other parts to add for different versions. They could use the usual wiring and plumbing.

There is also a series called 'Those Famous Fords" which has a nice GT40 model, but bear in mind if you pick this kit up that there are no part numbers on the parts trees, and no reference diagram of them either. You pretty much just have to search for the parts.
Those were Testor re-releases of the original IMC kits. Besides the GT40’s they also did the IMC Lotus 38.

The Fujimi 1/24 GT40 has been released in several versions and has also come out as several Revell kits. It’s readily available. However, it has no engine.

Historic Racing Miniatures makes a very nice resin engine/suspension kit featuring Gurney Westlake engine. The combination of these two can produce a very nice model of the 68/69 Le Mans winner. I remember building the IMC versions of the GT40 in their various releases and they just never seemed exactly right to me.
Le Mans miniatures also had a 1/24.
In 1/12 Trumpeter has a GT40 MkII that looks pretty good, but has some odd engineering and design decisions. I can’t believe a kit of this size and price would not have a distributor and plug wire. Some of the detail looks great and other aspects look heavy handed.
A Tamiya, or Hasegawa kit in 1/24 with an engine is sorely needed!
There are resin motors and photo etch kits out there not to mention the super detail kits.
