FORCES OF VALOR Armor Quality

Hi Everyone,

I know this is not a build question but this is the best forum for this question. I was thinking of buying a few of the FORCES OF VALOR tanks for my nephew. Does anyone know about reviews about them? Has anyone gotten a close look?

Thanks and TC,

John MC

hello , yeah well my dad got a 1/72 tiger and a 1/72 churchhill both die cast with a commander figure. they are kinda cool w/ good fit and finish. they also make 1/32 armor and figures. the armor is okay but the paint and weathering is a bit jakey(cheap). the figures are soft rubber and remind me of tamiya figures from the 70s. if hes a regular kid he will think they are cool. kids right now just havent been bombarded with war toys and plastic army men like we were. hope this helps. ps most nephews just wanna spend time with their cool uncles.

Depends on what you want them for. As prefinished toys to go vroom, vroom and boom, boom!! around the room with, they are fine. As scale models, they aren’t worth the money.

Gonna echo what they said on both counts, they are really great for toys, and look tolerable to us more educated types, and, cool uncles are always fun.

Ooorah, my sentiments exactly! Accept them as nicely done toys, and you can NOT go wrong.

FoV come from Unimax Toys, and are sold in 3 basic “grades”, “Action” grade - what you find Target Drugs ($7.99 for 1/72nd armor, $20.00-$29.00 for 1/32nd armor), “Enthusiast” grade - better(??) weathering and a few more loose add-on parts at your LHS for a lot more than Target, and “Diorama grade”, also expensive at your LHS with nice diorama displays.

All are a mix of plastic, rubbery plastic, and diecast.

I’m a sucker for Tigers in any scale or medium, so I have 2 of the FoV 1/72nd Late Tigers from Target, one of which was easily repainted from FoV’s basic “Normandy scheme” to Willie Fey’s colorful Tiger 134, courtesy of some decals from my Dragon 1/72nd Late Tiger I.

The 2 FoV Tigers look EXACTLY to scale next to my Dragon Late Tiger.

Also have the 1/72nd Porsche KT from Target (as it has the zimm texture, as does the FoV Late Tigers), and I just re-painted over the black rubber tracks, added some lite weathering, and flat-coat - and it looks just fine next to my ESCI Henschel KT and JTigers.

Grabbed the 1/72nd Aunt Jemima M4A1 Shermie from Target - as it certainly looks different next to the other 1/72nd Shermies on the shelf.

Other 1/72nd FoV I’ve seen at Target were the outstanding Chally 2 and ACAV M113, Bradley, and a respectable T72. The Abrams doesn’t look too shabby, the Churchill Mk7 was “OK”. I’ve read rave reviews over the SU122 and M3 Grant, but haven’t seen them at Target yet.

As for FoV 1/32nd, I received the 1/32nd Tiger I from Target for Xmas. I kinda consider it to be a Mid Tiger I as it has a curious mix of features from Early and Late Tigers; rubber-rimmed wheels, front-hull cutouts, Feifel remnents on the engine deck, zimm, Mid-Late cupola, binocular reinforced mantlet, etc - basically it looks like a Mid Tiger parts-tank to me, so I’m happy. They went overboard on the dark wash on the zimm, so a light cosmetic repaint and weathering is in order, plus paint the balck rubber tracks.

At Target, I’ve seen the 1/32nd M60 Blazer, LAV, M109, M3 Lee, Matilda II, and, Henshel KT. All were nice for what they are, and with some cosmetics, will display just fine. I consider the FoV 1/32nd Tiger I and KT from Target to be better than the ones from 21Century Toys that you find at WalMart.

For the modest price, and for the minimum of “cleanup”, you have some sturdy FoV AFVs you can safely share with little hands, or just display with your others.

[:)]I almost feel like fainting when my nephews come over and start reaching for the “cool cannons” I have displayed on the shelf. They want so badly to play with them so I’ve been thinking of getting a couple of 1/32 FoV armor expressly for that purpose…not for display but for the kids to play with without me having a heart attack!!
