For those in the Philadelphia area.

Can anyone tell me what the silver aircraft outside the Franklin Institute was? I don’t know if it’s still there or not, it has been a while since I’ve been there. Also does anyone plan on attending the East Coast Hobby Show at the Washington Expo? I can’t find any reference to model competition of any kind.

The Budd BB-1 Pioneer

of Budd Railcar fame, off Red Lion RD.
No intentions of going to the East Coast Show but I’m definitely attending MosquitoCon in Jersey on the 13th.
Gary

Hay Garyschurr, thanks a bunch. Can you tell me how old that photo is and if it’s still there? That is one sad looking airplane. Also can you tell me more about MosquitoCon? Is there a website?
Thanks again - Rich

MosquitoCon - March 13th, Wayne NJ. Download the flyer, complete with directions, categories, etc…at:

www.njipms.org

We typically average 350-400 models and 500-600 modelers.

I’ll be there with my 1:1 scale M35A2.

Yo Rich,
I believe the photo is from the late '80s. I haven’t been pass the FI recently but IIRC I believe the plane is no longer outside, I think it has been moved inside as part of the 100th anniversary of flight exhibit but don’t know if it’s on display. It’s made with stainless steel, it’s poor appearance is due to it’s missing it’s fabric covering from wing and tail. Mosquitocon is well worth the trip, lots of vendors, great contest and models.

Found out I’m babysitting on the 13th. I think my son may be going, if he is I will ask him to enter one or two models for me. Most of my better models contain some brass. Does this make them ineligble?

Definitely not. They award for out-of-the-box in each category which you would not qualify for but overall they do fit in. Sorry to here you’ll miss out.

Hope to see you guys there…I’ll be the photogrpaher in the Modelwarships.com hat…hunt me down, we’ll try to get a group picture!

Jeff
