??? FOR Mike V or anyone who wants to answer

Haveing a hard time choseing air brush want something that is easy to clean , not into building as much as some of you guys But i do like the hobby, i have been reading here that seems like a gravity feed is the easiest to clean?? was looking at the iwata rev.cr i build strictly 1/24 scale cars so will this brush spray a car bodys ? dixie art told me that this is a really good all around brush for the ocasional user and i could spray any kind of paint,so any sugestions are appreciated, also didnt want to spend no more than $75,i figured i would post here and get someone opinion who has it instead of a sales person trying to make a sale

The Iwata rev.cr will work fine for what you want to do and is a good choice you will not be disapointed, also check out the Badger Anthem as it can flow some paint and makes painting larger models easier. The Badger is a bottom feed but has a small cup too.
John

for general spraying like you are speaking of, you could take your pick. the hp-cr would be an excellent choice. later.

$75 is just about what my Thayer & Chandler Omni 4000 cost me, and it is most excellent. It has all the features I wanted (all metal body, gravity feed paint cup, internal mix, double action, etc) and works wonderfully. I just painted my first real part with it, and I couldn’t be happier! The finish is miles ahead of what I could achieve with brush painting.

I agree with everyone else as the choices for your needs are almost endless.
Practically any brand made would suit your needs but I personally would stay away from Aztek as they seem to have too many problems that normal airbrushes do not have.
The gravity-feed models are a little easier to clean but they are not a lot easier to clean than a siphon-feed model.
The Badger Anthem that was mentioned is a great all around airbrush and it has some features that are nice. It breaks down faster than any other airbrush manufactured and it comes with a PTFE (Teflon) needle bearing.
So it all boils down to which one you like and what fits your budget.

Mike

whatever works for you.

Mike, for camo and demarkation lines on 1:48 aircraft which would be better the 4000 or the anthem.

the hp-cs!! shut up mikey, i’m trying my best for a free trip here ok!!LOL. i’m delirious friends. later.[zzz]

Woodbeck,

Take note at how desperate these Iwata users are and ask yourself, Do I want to become like like? [(-D][(-D][(-D]

Seriously though, the Anthem as well as the Omni 4000 are both great airbrushes but I would say that the Omni 4000 is capable of slightly finer lines since it is a gravity-feed and can spray more reliably at lower pressures which is what you want for more control and less overspray on fine lines.

MikeV,
Since I keep seeing your name requested to reply in this forums, I think people consider you as an airbrush guru. [bow][bow][bow] [:D]

dont forget spraycans and if you do 1 color cars maybe a single action so you can buy more kits

Mike is so far past Guru stage he can’t even see that far behind him. He is the man in whose shadow walk the mere experts. He is the man that screws up the grading curve for the rest of us. He is the man … well, I can’t think of any more. Just glad I wore my boots today 'cause it sure is getting deep! [:p]

I’ve been trying to forget about cans but the won’t go away!

Ohh I am still getting my Iwata but the badger first [:I][:D][^][8D][alien][:P][:)][4:-)][bow][X-)][dinner][bday][{(-_-)}][(-D][:-,][oX)][#ditto][#ditto][#ditto][#ditto][#welcome][#wstupid][#wstupid][#wstupid][#wstupid][swg][tup][tup][tup][tup][tup][:-^][wow]

Not me. [:0]
I am just a regular guy with an average knowledge of airbrushes who likes to help out when I can. [;)]

Mike

You crack me up Scott. [(-D][(-D][(-D]
Thanks for the laugh my friend.

I am not even close to an expert. That would be people like Ken Schlotfeldt at Badger as well as my friend Scooter who has been airbrushing for 40 years.
I am but a young Jedi still learning from both Yoda and Obi-Wan. [swg]

Mike

Yeah, but you remember what Darth Vader said when he and Obi-Wan were starting their fight: “And now the student has become the master” (or something along those lines).

It would be interesting to see what people like Ken Schlotfeldt could do with an airbrush. After all, they are his life [:)]

Haha. [(-D]

I seriously do not know how good he is with an airbrush.
I am not sure if his proficiency is all technical or if he has some artistic abilities.
He inherited the company in a line from his family who have been building airbrushes for a long time so he is a walking encyclopedia of technical knowledge. I want to pick his brain for a couple days. Maybe he’ll show up at the Nationals in Phoenix and I can learn some things from him. [;)]

Mike

Good point. It may be a case of “Those who can, do. Those who can’t buy the company” [:D]

It would be fun to just sit and talk about airbrushes with one of the top guns in the industry though. Hey, if you get the chance ask him when they are going to come out with something to compete with those cool Aztek brushes! They’ve got the high end of the spectrum covered, maybe now it’s time to go after the low end. Ooops, I forgot, then they’d have to compete with Iwata to [:D][:D]

Stick with the Iwata Revolution CR. It is a precision airbrush instrument that will give you decades of use. You’ll be worn out before the CR is. The quality and operation are smooooooth.

I swear the Iwata is like a fine wine; both get better with age.
