Well, everything I found, while not saying it was an actual idea, didn’t say it was fake, either.
Hey, they were desperate. Just look at what they actually put into production.
It also occurs to me that you would need would one butt-wide runway. there couldn’t have been very many runways that could support such a craft. But let’s face it, seeing that thing lumbering through the air would probably make the average Spitfire pilot cackle with glee. “Does this count as one kill, or two…?”

And face it- it wasn’t like the straight Me 323 was hard to shoot down itself! Think of how this would have been hacked down in droves!
As for runways- no prob’. They’ll just line 'em up behind those Ju 290Z squadrons on those special Zwilling runways! (Or maybe cordoned off sections of the autobahn?)
