Fonderie kit quality/accuracy?

Anyone build up any of these kits? I just got my Squadron supplement, and they just put out a 1/48 Handley Page Halifax B Mk.III bomber which looks awesome! I just don’t want to drop $90 without knowing the quality of their kits, though. [:D]

I have never built a FM kit, and I am very curious, as well, to hear what the others who have experience will say.
From EVERY review I have seen, they mention that these are “high maintenance” kits, to be kind. In short, if one is expecting a quick, clean build, like from a Tamiya, you will be disappointed. ON the other hand, if you like to take something imperfect and make it perfect, especially on rare subjects, you will like FM. Some people love the challenge of building a difficult kit. Nothing wrong with that!

They range from kinda poor to really bad. Haven’t seen the Halifax, but I’d save my $90 for something buildable.

Regards, Rick

Have one FM kit. It’s not so good.

They are short-run kit’s with all the asociated problems/challenges.
It really depends on how much you want this kit, and how much you like difficult builds

I agree with Rick and RemcoGrob. Save the money and buy something else, unless you really, really want it and are an extremely experienced builder. These kits are not for the faint of heart, nor the easily frustrated.

I’ve got the PV-1 kit. It’s kinda basic, but has resin and white metal parts. It’s the kind of thing you buy if you really like subject, and really like to model! It’ll be a challenge, but I predict satisfation… [8D]

If you like the challenge of good 'ole fashioned real modeling, then go for it.

Otherwise, run screaming in the other direction…
