Anyone ever built a commercial “Follow Me” jeep?
As a kid we flew on the UAL California coast route a lot.
San Francisco- Monterey- Salinas- King City- Santa Barbara in Convair 440’s.
There were such vehicles in at least a couple of those fields.
I’ve been into several FBOs that just used whatever they had available as a ‘Follow Me’ vehicle. I’ve seen tanker trucks, pickups, and the such with ‘Follow Me’ pasted across the back and sides. Sometimes, they were a convertible with a blond driving, and another blond holding up a sign ‘Follow Me’. 
The things FBOs will do to sell fuel and rent ramp space!

I’ve seen far more follow-me vehicles on Air Force bases than civilian fields. Not that the later couldn’t use them. Responsibilities for that kind of thing on a civil airport aren’t well defined, I suppose it is up to the FBOs.
