I have seen alot of pictures of both allied and axis tanks with foliage on them. I cant figure out how they kept it on, especially on the barrel. [?] If any one has any idea, it would be apricated. Also, how can I do it on my models? Thanks[:D]
A lot of them had chicken wire attached or like the Late Panthers they had foliage loops welded to the turrets. Some times you see what looks like bailing wire zigzaging down the side of the tanks hull and turret… thats what its there for… Most of the time it was probably a field mod… except of course those loops added at the factory…
some allied vehicles welded short lengths (6") of pipe to insert the branches.
It’s held on the gun tube by wrapping wire or string down the lentgth of the tube trapping the foilage as you go. You can hold it on your model the same way, just use really small gage wire. I found a great/cheap selection of wire at my local hardware store.
Chicken wire mesh was used on hulls and gun barrels. A good 1/35 item is tulle (sounds like “tool”), a material used to in dressmaking. Imagine a bride’s veil. Go to fabric section of a store – all craft stores would have it as well.
