Foiled.....again? MIG 21 WIP

Thought I would take a break from building armor, and try some Bare Metal Foil instead of Alclad for this Academy 1/48th MIG 21. These BMF sheets have been sitting around for a couple of years, better use 'em huh?

I’ll still finish with some Alclad II on the exhaust and panel detail, I’m enjoying the work believe it or not. You can see the burnishing tool in the pics, I highly recommend these if your going to do foil…

This will be a Soviet aircraft, so I’ll town down the glare a little. Ever since I saw “Ice Station Zebra” when I was a kid (1969), I have been in love with this jet. It just looks mean, my kinda critter.

Steve

Excellent bmf application, Steve.

Hey, that looks neat! I’ve used bare metal foil, but only in small sections, never on the whole model. Is the plastic prep the same as if you were painting it?

One thing about the cockpit color. I have the 1/32 Trumpeter kit, and that along with my other references mention a Russian blue/green for the base color. Are there other color options besides that?

Nice work with the BMF. Should be a real beauty when complete. Keep us posted.

[#ditto] Very good start.

Excellent work so far Crockett. You don’t see those around here to often either.
